So I read somewhere about creating centerpieces for destination weddings and have done some web sleuthing but so far I've got nothing.
The difficult thing about a destination wedding is that you either have to lug this stuff with you on the plane or have ti shipped to you, and then what do you do with it all after the wedding? With that in mind, I'm trying to think of centerpieces that:
1. Are lightweight and easy to ship/transport
2. Can be folded up or disassembled to save space when packing (into box or luggage)
3. Will be something that guests can take home with them (so they are green gifts and save me the trouble of finding out what to do with them afterwards!).
4. Don't cost an arm and a leg (I'm an avid DIY bride and bride on a tight budget, so something inexpensive and something I can make are always good!).
I'd love to hear what you all are planning for centerpieces, especially if you had the same kinds of considerations (i.e. going to an island and have a limited ability to bring things with or ship things ahead).
Thanks!

so yes, its annoying to take this much stuff, but its not soo much that its too annoying.
I found some black bamboo placemats at the dollar store and thought maybe I could gather some rocks, shells and drifwood from the local beaches and make an arrangement out of them with the luminaries in the middle. I found these little pails in the dollar bins at Target and bought a bunch but have no idea what I'm going to do with them.
I guess I'll keep looking at the craft store and hope inspiration hits me!
I will fill these with those horrid candied almonds (my FI insists on them because he's Italian and they always have them at Italian weddings) and add them to our tables!
