I need a hug F/U to Dr.'s

Re: I need a hug F/U to Dr.'s

  • Stay away from evil Google!  It sounds like your doc is competent (even though it seriously sucks that the results are taking so long) so reading up on stuff on the internet is only going to upset you.  Look at fun websites instead if you can't focus on work.
  • Lots of hugs... I hope it works out for the best for you.

  • I agree, don't google just yet. Or at least google with an open mind. My sister has a lot of random and difficult to diagnose health issues, and every time something new comes up she finds the worst case scenario, according to her symptoms, and then finds all the differential diagnoses for the symptoms. Usually there are many other things it could be, or things that are far more benign than the worst case scenario. So just as it could be something bad, it could also be something not so bad. Your doctors are still ruling out things for you, and I hope they find out what's really going on soon. :extra hugs:

  • Rach I have never met you, but all of you P&E women have become such fixtures in my life that I am sure I will be having anxious stomach squirms thinking about this all week! So if it helps at all, I'm right here with you- waiting to hear how this turns out and hoping for the best. Major hugs.

  • Rach, hang in there, hon - I know it's so easy for us to say, on the other side of the computer, but that's all you can do at this point. There's nothing proactive you can do right now, other than to get as much rest as you can, and eat healthy (take care of yourself!). When does FI return from NC? Hopefully, that will be soon, and with good news, to boot. I'm sending many good thoughts, prayers and well wishes your way, and  lots of these ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) Hang in there....

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • I may not have too many people IRL to turn to right now, but please believe me when I say I am so thankful for everyone's support. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and staying away from google (fwiw, I only google things my doctor mentions--I never google random crap, I'd really be in trouble if I did that).

  • Oh Rach. I'm so sorry. I wish you were already in NC; I'd be there in an hour with liquor and hugs. FI needs to go ahead and get that job so that no matter what is wrong we can help you recover and fix it. Try not to focus on the worst, and please stay here so we can at least help you with what you're feeling right now. I love you!
  • So sorry Rach.  Big hugs and amazing Knottie vibes to you.

  • Rach I'm so sorry you are dealing with something so scary. :( Huge hugs to you and fingers crossed that your docs are just ruling out the last of the worst-case-scenarios and it is something much more benign.Hugs Hugs Hugs

  • I obviously never post but I wanted to let you know that while it is scary, lymphoma has one of the highest cure rate at the moment. I believe it is between 90 and 95%I, personally have been in remission for about 3 months now.I'd suggest to wait until you get your results, before you let any fears set in, and then whatever you may have, take it one day at the time.
  • That's so hard to hear.  I'm so sorry.  I hope the best for you and I'm sorry things just got real rough.

  • I'm sorry to hear about this, Rach.  I hope that everything goes well and that there is absolutely nothing to worry about.  Consider yourself virtually hugged from me.
  • I'm sorry Rach. If they find anything at all, I am sure they will tell you right away. Try (as silly as this sounds) not to stress about it. I'll say lots of prayers for you. :)

  • Rach -  First off, HUGE hug! Second, is there any way for you to skip your class tonight? I've been in your situation multiple times before (skin cancer, pre cervical cancer, possible leukemia, lumps in boobs) and if I were you, I'd skip it. If you go to class, more than likely you're not going to learn anything and you're gonna be zombie like. The best thing you can do is cut yourself off from sites like WebMd (easier said then done) and sit down with a friend and just veg. Have a good cry... Eat some ice cream... Have some wine... Take a hot bath... The first 24hours of a possible diagnosis is always the hardest. You sit there wondering what you did to 'deserve' having that problem... At least that's how I feel anyway. Just know that you couldn't have done anything different. If you need to talk, let me know. You're in my prayers.
  • aww thanks, Desi. I did, in fact, decide to skip class tonight. I talked to my professor before hand--he's watch me over the last year as my health has declined--and was quick to tell me to go home (in the nicest way possible). He told me class should be the last thing on my mind right now...and he's right, because it is. I have a feeling that 'good cry' is well on its way.

  • Oh Rach, I'm so sorry. I had a full-body scan a few months ago- looking for cancer in the bones as a result of unexplained pain. Thankfully, despite the yuckiness that was having radioactive dye injected into my system etc, the scan came up all clear (just revealing arthritis in one of the sore areas). I hope the same comes back for you... your symptoms could be as a result of many autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid (or have you already been diagnosed with this? What is it you see the rheumatologist for?), Lupus and Fibromyalgia all spring to mind. Also, I think Lyme disease has similar symptoms, too). Although ruling out cancer is important, at this stage I think you have to try and remind yourself that there's lots of options and whatever it is, you will be ok. Thinking of you hun.
  • *Huge hugs* from me, the dog and the cat. That is so sucky that you have to wait so long for potentially bad news. Hopefully you will come out and they will say there is nothing there, give you some multivitamins and tell you that you are just stressed out and have a cold or something.
  • (I should add that blood tests for things like Rheumatoid don't always come back positive, even in those diagnosed with the condition. Having a negative rheumatoid factor doesn't mean that there's zero possibility of it being rheumatoid. I would imagine that after your Rheumatologist rules out anything more nasty, he'll be looking back to the auto-immune conditions for potential treatment. Fingers crossed for you).
  • I am so so sorry Rach. I wish I could hug you in person. And I have nothing but positive hopeful thoughts going your way. ((((hugs))))))

  • Sun--I was tested for Rheumatoid when I was in the hospital last spring, I've also been tested for lupus, and lyme disease--all negative. The reason I see a Rheumatologist is because he was the doctor to diagnose my autoimmune disease in the hospital--and was the only one with any knowledge of it, even though prior to me, he had only seen it twice (he's in his 70's--the disease is very rare).

  • I know it is really scary for you, especially with your health going downhill. I really do believe that you should be positive about this though- as hard as it is. A negative result on the rheumatoid test doesn't rule out rheumatoid, and rheumatoid does have many of the same symptoms you're describing- it also can be negative at one point and positive later on. I'll have my fingers crossed that it all comes back negative for you with the scan and that it's something less serious. Do you get your results back straight away?
