DJ and Lighting

I finally booked a location, photgrapher, and caterer. But, now I am on the hunt for a dj who does lighting as well. I am just having a hard timebecause there are so many dj's out there and no way to know if there good. I figured this board is the best way to get some info on Dj's everyone has liked. I am fine with any recommendations that don't do lighting. I just want a really good DJ. Thanks

    ASVD Productions did my lighting and they also DJ. I worked with Richard, and really liked him.

    Dallas Rhythms did an AMAZING job on both lighting and Dj! Seth was a huge part of our successful reception - love him!! He was worth every penny.

    Thanks for asking this question, I'm looking for DJs and lighting as well.  Another one my planner mentioned was Astounding Sounds with Colby Logan.  I think Megandchase used him.

    We are using Lori from Melodies and Memories with no lighting.  There is someone on here using Melody and she will be doing lighting for them.

    I think all of those recommendations are good so far. Try to stay away from the dedicated lighting companies... they way overcharge for something that you can get from a lot of DJ's. Our DJ (Matt w/ djsofdallas.com ) did a fantastic job as a dj and uplighting as well and was cheap compared to what the lighting companies charged. Uplighting is the way to go IMO. I still haven't seen Melody in action but she seems to be very popular as well!

    Calvin McKinney with Party DJ Dallas - he does DJ services and lighting, pricing between $800-$1000. HTH
