Crystal Tea Room vs. Atrium at Curtis Center

Hey Ladies, I am getting married in October 2011. I am stuck between these two venues. If anyone has been to either let me know your thoughts and what you liked and disliked. :)

I've never been to Crystal Tea Room but I attended a wedding at the Curtis Center in march.  It was the most beautiful reception I've ever attended.  Plus, Cescaphe goes above and beyond! I've never seen more delicious food in one place in my life.  The only neg is that the cocktail hour was in the lobby and it was a cold, rainy evening.  Every time the doors opened, a cold breeze came in (Early October, you probably won't have to worry about that).  Even so, it didn't ruin the evening. The set up at the Curtis Center is beautiful and the fact that it's an atrium makes it even better.  Not to mention the waterfall.Like I said, I've never been to CTR but I highly recommend the Curtis Center.

I went to a wedding at the CTR last year.  The food wasamazing and it is a very large venue if that is what you arelooking for.  It was kind of dark, so I would recommendlighting. I have never been to the Atrium but it looks beautiful.

I was deciding between the two when I was venue shopping and I chose the Curtis Center for a few reasons. 1) the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD, nothing compares, and they include everything.. nothing is held back. 2) it's more open/well lit/less dreary 3) Cescaphe goes out of their way to make your day special and I liked the personal attention/touches. Pricing was very similar, and I felt what Cescaphe gave in their package way outdid what Finley was giving.

Finley Catering is known to have a lot of problems.  I planned a work event there and I thought the food was sub-par, the carpets are disgusting, and it's a massive room that can look very empty.  They can seat over 1,000 in there, so if you're having a 200 person wedding it's going to look like a tiny wedding in a big room.I have not been to a wedding at Cescaphe/Curtis, however have friends that did, and their food is known to be out of this world!  The amount of food presented is incredible.  I like the look of Curtis much better than the Tea Room as well.I've seen Knotties pictures of Curtis and it just looks outstanding.  If you are looking at similar per head prices, I think Curtis is really the way to go.

Oodsie, I think accidently reporeted you. I am so sorry. I was trying to reply to you because I need your help means that wou were sitting where I am sitting. This is the first time I have ever posted. I don't know if there is a way to respond to you so just you can see? I was wondering if the Atrium looked too crowded? How many people did you have? What about music? Was there an echo at all? Did you have a band or DJ? Thank you so m uch for your help. Anyone else who has experience is welcome to chime in. Thank you!!!

Chiming in:The wedding I went to at CC had between 350-400 people.  There was a little bit of an echo during speeches but it was not a big deal at all.  They had a band and a DJ and everything was beautiful.

I've never been to either place,b ut I got married at the Cescaphe Ballroom and it was amazing. Most people told me "this is the best wedding I've ever been to." It was so wonderful and they take care of you. Everything is top notch, and like Oodsie said- they include EVERYTHING in their price- no upgrades or anything. Well, they have a few upgrades, but nothing outstanding. good luck with your venue choice- it's a good thing you're giong for 2011, I hear they're booked through 2010!

I got married at the Crystal Tea Room in Aug 2007 and LOVED it. They were fabulous to work with, the food was outstanding, and the photos from the place still give me goosebumps because it's just so beautiful.  I have never been to nor have I heard of the other place you mentioned, but I have nothing but amazing things to say about the CTR.  I love the bridal room, the atrium, the ballroom, the sweet room, Miguel (our day-of coordinator guy that they provided), everything.  I highly recommend it!

I also wanted to say in response to Jewels' post - my wedding had 189 and room looked full and wonderful.  You don't need to have 300 people to make the room feel like it's full.  You just need to arrange your tables properly :)

Hi, my name is Joanna and I am new to the message boards  I wanted to ask what florist,  DJ/band, photographer you used?  Because I am getting married at the Atrium in April 2011 and am starting to look for florists, DJ, and photographer and didn't know if there were ones more suited for the venue.  It is a huge place and the flower situation is stressing me out.  DId you use their florist?  If so, was it expensive?  DId you have high centerpieces?  Any suggestions for a DJ?

PS. The Atrium is beautiful and everyone that I know that has been to a wedding there has raved about it.  They dress it up really nicely, especially for the cocktail hour.
