Hello ladies!
I'm a noob here, but I've been lurking for the last week. I realized I needed to join up when about 10 of the posts yesterday had me laughing with snot flying from my little nostrils. (Ewwwww)
Soooo...I'm beanbot. Are we allowed to use our real names?
I'm 31 and SO is 32. We are fortunate enough that we have known each other half our lives. We met in high school show choir before high school show choir was 'cool'. We became fast friends and did everything together. He hugged me through bad boyfriends, held my hair when I drank to much, told me when I was being an idiot...the whole shebang. When we were 22, I had my son, "the Bean". His biological father denied him early in the pregnancy, and despite my efforts to encourage his involvement in the Bean's life-he chose not to. Cest la vie...
The whole time, SO was right there. No one had to ask him, he just stepped up. He's never missed one of Bean's birthday's or important events. Other than my father and brothers, SO has been the only constant male figure in the Bean's life.
I guess you could say we started dating 2 years ago, when one night 'things' happened. We had never even so much as kissed during our friendship so, yeah. BUT I wouldn't mark it as officially official until this last May. He called me one day and announced that he realized he didn't want to continue to be without me and the Bean, that he wanted to marry me and make more babies. So fast forward several months...he's in the process of job hunting so that he can move back to VA to be with us (currently working/going to school in GA). Being long distance blows, but at the same time-the anticipation is exhilirating. I'm truly enjoying this stage of our relationship. He's mentioned a few times that he wants to be married "in the next year-give or take", and we've talked about a few of the things we may want when that happens, but there is no serious planning going on. Do I occasionally browse the knot to gaze at a dress or two, yeah-who doesn't? Am I gonna go try on dresses before he asks me those 4 little words? Hellz to the noz. I can hear the cries of: "Praise Jesus! She's not crazy!" and to that I answer with a solid "Amen, sisters. Amen."
Uh, ok...so since I've lurked I know a few things that are going to be asked:
Fur babies: Yep! Slowy the greyhound...sadly just diagnosed with stage 3 cancer

sweetest 60lb lap dog you could ever know. And Tap Dance, the Bean's show pony. He lets me borrow her every once in a while-that "share with mommy" stuff really paid off.
Do I like or love Harry Potter: If I could marry the damn books/movies/etc, I would. The Bean regularly finds sticks in the yard and begins casting. He decided his patronus is a horse, of course. (HAR! Oh, I just realized what I did there upon reading for edit) He and my nephew have battles every Friday afternoon. My favorite? Hmmmmm...It's hard to choose just one, but I think my fave was The Order of the Phoenix. But I also liked Prisoner so...you can't make me choose just one!
Potatoes: Any way you can cook them...I love them. Sadly I've been potato deprived for the last year due to SBD. Weep ladies...weep!
Ok, anything else-ask away.

Motolyn's House Remodel Blog Starting anew Nov. 2012.
Love sports! I'm a die hard Red Sox fan, and love the Redskins...even when it is hard to.
I've never read Hunger Games-but I did see a few posts about them. I'm guessing I shouldn't even ask if I 'should' be reading them...I'll just go buy them this weekend.
Favorite TV shows: Criminal Minds, House, Grey's Anatomy, The Regular Show (a very twisted animated show that the Bean got me into)
Aaaaaaand Fur Babies:
Slowy, The Greyhound
Tap Dance and the Bean
And I really hope those don't post as poster sized...I tried to shrink them down.

A good source of shopping nearby is a necessary evil. I'm located closer to the Leesburg outlets myself. Yea NoVA!
I can't think of any good questions, so I'm just saying HI!
So where should I begin: He possess more empathy than I see in most of the adults I've encountered. He loves love. Loves to give it, receive it, spread it around.
When he was 2, he announced that when he grew up he was going to be a paleontologist. Not a 'dinosaur man'...a paleontologist. He was very adamant about using the proper term. I fear my OCD tendancies have rubbed off, dagnabit! He loves soccer and wants to be the first paleontologist/professional soccer player in the US. And if you ask him about girls, he'll say "I'm not allowed to have a girlfriend until I'm 35 and have my PhD." lol
Oh, what else could I tell you about him...obviously he loves Harry Potter, Soccer and Dinosaurs. He loves to write-songs, poems, funny stories. His favorite toy is a long piece of yarn that was tied in knots at certain areas to make a 'man' figure. He calls him "Red Guy". When I asked him why he loved Red Guy so much when he had all these awesome toys in his room, he responded, "Because Superman can only be Superman. And Batman can only be Batman. But Red Guy can be whoever I want him to be." And I never questioned him again.
I think that sums him up.

HI! (And congrats on your recent engagement! Yep...I lurked.)
I'll be better about spacing in the future. Don't shoot me yet! haha
Alcoholic: I have to pic just one?? Cheap wine. Cheap wine in a box. Whiskey and ginger. Cheap beer...PBR preferrably.
Non: Water. Lots and lots of water.
Welcome to TK! I give you an A+ on your homework, lol! Glad to have you join us. And, yes, some of us are known by real names, while others tend to be more recognized by their nicknames. Who's your favorite superhero?
Posted by HULU
Oh man! Tough question!! I'm kind of partial to The Hulk. I feel like he just needs a freakin hug every once in a while. And my nieces/nephews have been saying that my hugs are magic, so...maybe I could help him out.

Posted by jenjenniferf
I'm over here nervously biting my nails because I don't know who that is! Is that bad? Should I know who that is? I tend to have brain farts all the time (probably all those beans I eat), so it's gonna be something obvious and in my face, isn't it? And then I'm gonna feel like an even bigger noob dork. LOL

I used to watch The First 48 at night, while I was home by myself. And then I'd wonder why I was afraid to fall asleep.

Beans, and pork, and mashed cauliflower...sounds gross, right? Totally delicious.
ETA: NOT ALL TOGETHER! That would be gross. Pork and cauliflower, pork and beans...that's ok...all three together in one dish. Uh, no.

Definately does sound gross. I would tell you that Id try it but that'd be a lie. I don't like Pork or Cauliflower.

I had to go back and edit that earlier post...not all three foods together in one dish. That does add up to a whole bunch of Ew.
And pork/cauliflower are definitely NOT for everyone. But remember-I've been deprived of potatoes for over a year. In that time, I've deluded myself into thinking that mashed cauliflower is a decent stand in. It's good...but it's no mashed potato.
