Help with how to set-up the Bride's Entrance

We were thinking of getting married at this park and it’s great because it’s not a “park” park—it’s mainly used for wedding ceremonies and there are so many great views from the location. The problem I’m running into, though, is that there isn’t a set place for the bride to make her grand entrance. To be more specific--there isn't a way to "hide" the bride and give that special & dramatic entrance effect that you'd normally get if you were being married at a church or indoor venue (where they can close the doors after the WP enters and pause before the bride walks down the aisle). So, I was wondering if anyone could help provide any ceremony ideas. Have any of you seen any outdoor ceremony sites set up in a way that the bride is hidden before she walks down the aisle? Even if we had some sort of done-up archway w/ drapes or something to hide me right before I walk down the aisle, since it's an open setting they'd see me as I walked up to the archway--which is what I don't want to happen. Anyway, I'd love to hear any of your great ideas and welcome your suggestions! Thanks Knotties!!! =)

Re: Help with how to set-up the Bride's Entrance

  • A friend of mine had this same problem. She actually found an inexpensive horse & carriage and made her entrance that way...so she could still be hidden, but it wouldn't taken her 20 mins to walk up to the ceremony site. HTH
  • I was driven from the museum where I got ready (and the reception site) to the rose garden next to the museum where the ceremony was.  My mom's friend has a classic car and he drove my dad and me to the ceremony.  We got there a tad before the ceremony started which was nice because I got to listen to the music and watch the beginnings of the ceremony without anyone really seeing me.
  • Thanks guys! OMG i love this thing and all of your help!  Yes, I've heard of brides and even the WP being driven up to the location via trolley, limo, etc. and i've thought of that, as well.  the only downside to that is, your hair could get all messed up on the way over and if you get up from the limo you're dress could get all wrinkled/flattened while you're sitting and you won't have time to fix it right before you walk down the aisle because everyone'll see u right when you get out of the limo....ok, ok, i know i'm probably being too picky..but i'm sure u guys can understand, right, as this is our big moment to walk down the aisle?? well, i hope you can.  i guess if i can't think of anything else, i'm sure my MOH's can help me smooth my dress down n fix my hair real quick while everyone's watching right after me get out of the limo.  but keep em coming and thanks again for your help! =)

  • Hmmm, I didn't even think of this.  I am going to run into the same problem.  I like the horse/carriage idea, and you probably wouldn't get too wrinkled in a short car ride- maybe you could stop upon entering the ceremony venue, de-wrinkle, check hair, and then have them take you to the actual ceremony site?  Sorry I'm not more help!
  • wow...i hadn't thought of this either.  I do like the arch idea though...wedding is a ways off, so we do have some time to work the kinks out.

  • I'm having the same issue, but there is a building where I could "hide" nearby. The problem is I'd have to do a walk around the ceremony area to get to the aisle, since the building entrance is on the side of the ceremony area. In any case, I'm having a period wedding so if it fits into the budget, the horse and carriage were definitely on my list to begin with. I think your dress will be fine. It will depend on the material, sure, but I doubt anyone will notice something as minor as it not being absolutely perfect. Plus, FI will only see you as the most beautiful thing ever even if you walk down the aisle in a rumpled garbage bag, right? Just enjoy the moment when it comes and don't sweat the small stuff too much. You only hope to do this once, right? So enjoy it!!!!
  • I have the same problem but the reception building in ACROSS the street from the apple orchard we're getting married at.....So I have to walk accross the street.....everyone will see me LOL....any suggestions?

  • Kathy, me too!  The ceremony site faces the building where the reception will be and in which I will be getting dressed, so everyone is going to see me come out!  I haven't talked to my coordinator at the venue, but they do a lot of weddings so I'm hoping they have a solution for this.  The only idea I've had is to get large umbrellas that match our colors for my BMs to hide me...I don't know if that would look tacky though
  • I've thought of that too, since I'm getting marrie on a beach. I don't have any ideas so far, but I'm going to ask the site coordinator about it. This is definitely something I didn't think about when we booked the site. Sorry, no suggestions, but good luck!
  • browneyeddoll- I think you just got some of us girls in a frenzy! I had not even thought about this! I'm glad someone did tho so we could all think about it.  When I figure out something I'll post!

  • Umbrellas sound like a cute idea but since they go up first you will still be standing there.....I think I'm just going to wait until they all are in places and have my dad escort me all the way from accross the street....It might help the jitters too.

  • you could do both a ride up in a limo or carriage or whatever AND do the draped archway thing. That way you would have time to fix your dress before everyone sees you. I have the same problem and I have thought about it alot and this is probably just me be picky too but I dont want to look goofy trying to struggle out of the car in my wedding dress ha. I am just not the most graceful person ever. Just and idea!
