Re: Giving out charity bracelets for our guests to wear at the wedding

  • My friend and I always joked around about doing this. We were never serious. Please please please don't do this. It will be the only thing people remember and take away from your wedding.

  • It's not really a road trip until you hear Night Moves.
  • Reasons you should NEVER take an idea you saw on "My Super Sweeeeeeet Sixteen" and apply to your wedding.

  • Oh, sorry.  I've never even been there.  I was quoting Wedding Crashers.  :)
  • Is your wedding going to be at a venue where other events will be going on at the same time?  Are you worried about guests from other events crashing the bar tab?
  • Pinot,Is that really where this idea came from?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I've seen segments, but I really hate people like those girls (oh and their parents... yeah, mainly their parents) so I can't watch it.

  • I know I hate them too.  I always wonder what kind of weddings these girls will expect after 100K+ birthday parties.

  • Oh and OP - you could motivate people to wear them with cheese.  Well at least I'm easily motivated with cheese.

  • Thanks for the advice.  I didn't mean to sound like I was forcing on people to do something nor that I would think I'm so important or anything, though I'm worried about specific people crashing into my wedding and about the venue holding several events at the same time which might complicate things, that's all.  Please don't be so quick to judge.  I'll take your advice into consideration, still there's a long way to go before I send out my invitations and I'm just playing with ideas.  Love to all and hope you have a great week! Happy Monday morning!

  • You REALLY need to push your venue to rent one of those handy eyeball scanners for the evening so complete photo profiles pop up and you can ensure each person is an invited guest and they have not, in fact, stolen the eyeballs of your guests. It's the only way this will work. I'll cutabitch for her awesome wedding reception bracelet and make my way straight to the open bar!
  • I'm worried about specific people crashing into my wedding and about the venue holding several events at the same time In theory, you would have to hire someone to name check even w/ the bracelets.  Forgo the bracelets and hire security if you are that worried about certain people.  As far as the multiple event venue, I'm sure they do events like this all the time.  If you're worried, you need to talk to your point of contact at the venue.

  • I like Bec's idea.Seriously, if you're worried about a couple of people talk to the venue and describe these people, or hire security and describe them.  Don't make your guests feel uncomfortable. There were a couple of people we were worried might cause a problem at our wedding.  We had a guest who happens to work as a bouncer at a local club.  We talked to him and he said if anyone caused a problem he'd handle it for us.  Of course he wasn't needed, but it was nice to know that he was there if he was.I'm sure that your venue is used to having multiple events at the same time.  Mine was.  They had our DOC keep en eye on the cards/gifts, while she was helping us out.

  • Love to all and hope you have a great week! Happy Monday morning!LOL!  Suck up!
  • Maybe you could do like famous people and have a fake wedding somewhere to throw the wedding crashers (and popperazzi) off. They, of course, won't get bracelets.
  • You could have a cash bar. That way once they're asked to pay for a drink, they won't want to crash any longer. Perfect solution.
