Wedding Invitations & Paper

DIY or Professional? That is the question...

Hi! I am new to the wonderful world of invites/STD, etc. I have about 200 invites that need to go out and based on our budget, I need to keep it at $3.00 per invite or less. Is it possible to get this done professionally and if so, what companies offer the lowest proces? I don't even know where to start looking...
Is DIY really worth it, given that you have to print them at home? Or is it better to buy invites at say Micheal's craft store and then bring them to a local printer? What is the best way to keep the cost at $3.00 per invite or less? HELP!
P.S. I am not that picky and not in need of anything too fancy.....any tips are greatly appreciated!

Re: DIY or Professional? That is the question...

  • We did our own and the are ending up near the $3.00 mark. I love how ours look and it was not that hard to do them. I don't know the pricing at having other do it.
  • I DIYd rather intricate pocketfold invites for us, and before postage they're about $2.82 each, I think.  It is certainly possible to stay at a very reasonable price for invitations, and if you don't care how complicated they are, I suspect that you can do very pretty ones for around $1 - $2 each before postage.

Michaels, JoAnn, etc. will have lots of kits that are reasonably priced that you print at home.

However, I would recommend you take a look at etsy.  There are TONS of sellers there.

Disclaimer:  I have no personal experience with this seller, but their shop has lots of cute invitations at VERY reasonable prices.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/EverlastingInvites
