Guest attire request

Re: Guest attire request

  • Thank you, goheels. Again, I want to reiterate what I said a bit earlier- I have heard your concerns.  I will word the invitations as "Black Attire Requested".  I believe my family and friends know me well enough to not wear bright, sunny clothing.  But, I shall deal with it as need be.  I will be a big girl about it if some choose to wear these lighter clothes.
  • Bec, can I keep you?

  • you know what screams "troll" to me? 2 posts, and they know how to post a sig pic and a bio in their sig.

  • I understand that, but like I said to each their own.
  • kdc - I'm so sorry. I saw the thread, but I can't see pics at work. I always have to wait until I get home to see them. I am really excited about viewing all of the hotness, but I'm concerned it will break my computer.
  • Also, I don't know if you know this, but in june, in central texas, the temperatures are most likely going to be over 100, even at night. I, personally, hate to wear black in the summer, even in the evening, because its so darn hot.

  • You can certainly make a polite request for guests to wear all black. If it's worded politely, and clear that its an optional request. But in your previous posts, "I am adamant that they do so", and "request" are contradictory statements. Surely you understand that you only that you only get to control the aspects of your wedding that are within your control, or within your "jurisdiction" (like your attire, location, type of ceremony, decorations, menu, etc...). Things you have paid for, that you choose. Guests are not within your jurisdiction to control, other than whether to invite them or not. They are free to do, wear, think, feel, or act any way they want. Your wishes/demands to not supercede their basic freedom to choose their own attire. Just because yoe you paid a lot of money for your wedding does not mean the guests "owe" it to you to wear what you dictate. If you cannot understand or accept that basic and universal tenant in life, then you do not have the maturity and understanding to be married.
  • Have you looked at the Gothic Weddings board? Some of those girls have really pretty black wedding dresses, too.NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't want to burst her "I'm so unique" bubble do you?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • ditto cew, kdc! I can't wait to get home and check out the wedding hotness!
  • Is that your hair in your sig pic? Were you dressed up for something or..is this everday clothes?
  • You all are keeping me quite busy replying!I do live in New York.  The decision to have the wedding in Texas is recent- after I signed up for this website.I will check out the gothic weddings board, I did not knot it was there.pumpkinpumpkin- I have frequented message boards for many years.  Adding information to my signature is not rocket science- it is the same as many other message boards, and I saw that it was common to do so here.
  • Yes.  Sco is the mod of the gothic board I think.

  • I don't believe for a second that this chick is real. Tinypic + weebly is a classic knot combo that newbs wouldn't be aware of.

  • Yes, it will be hot in Texas.  We have spent many summers there.  The wedding is indoors, with air conditioning.ndaroxy- yes, this is my everyday attire.  Of course, that is not all MY hair.  It is a fall.I do not think i'm 'so different'.  I know that others have had weddings similar to this before.  Also, most of my friends are similar to me in style, so clearly I am not the only one who enjoys this lifestyle.
  • Omg, if everyone wears black to your wedding how will they know who's getting married???!!!!
  • Oh shut up, Heels. You're just still bitter because no one wore the big puffy pumpkin costumes to your Fall Wedding like you requested. No, I was mad because no one learned the Thriller dance after I clearly stated on the invites that we were doing it, and I looked like a dumbass doing it by myself.
  • cew - I don't know, first your cake balls don't make it up to my plane as I cross NC, now this. I just feel like you're not stalking me as hard as you used to. It makes me sad. bec - yay :) be careful, as cew warned, the hotness may break your electronic devices. [PS - you should be my FB friend because I secretly stalk you on P&E because you're so awesome - but I am more subtle than cew, she is a stalking whooore]
  • lpstl- I learned of tinypic here, but I have used weebly previously for my personal blog.  I actually had a friend who worked for the company.
  • Aw, Heels. That's so sad. I would have gotten up and done the Thriller with you. You should have invited me. Nevermind that we didn't know each other yet!
  • So the real question is, are you on Team Edward or Team Jacob?
  • what a beautiful wedding says the bridesmaid to the waiter, oh but what a shame, what a shame the poor groom's bride is a whore
  • Somewhere in central Florida, Breaks is crying because this girl is going to one up her.And ditto P2.  You have to think of these things, troll creators.  It's not as obvious as misspelling every other word, but its still something people will pick up on.  Maybe Ladybug can do some sort of seminar for you fools.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • princesskitie, do you have a pic you can post of yourself without the hair, makeup and crazy clothes?   If so, please share.

  • I'm pretty sure the last time I checked P Diddy was the only one that could pull this off.You can not dictate what grown adults wear...period.
  • kate- I am, maybe surprisingly, not a Twilight fan.  I prefer True Blood.
  • Dictating particular colors is a bit like a costume party to me, but to each her own.  either spread the idea through word of mouth or say "Black attire requested."  Some people will be offended, some people won't wear black.  I kind of think that's the best you can hope for.And I think your dress could look really cool.  I can't see the closeup, but I see where you're going with it.
  • lala - Panic! at the Disco... dear god I thought I was the only one haha

  • HAVEN'T YOU PEOPLE EVER HEARD OF CLOSING THE GODDAMN DOOR?
  • nicoleabrock- As I said earlier, I have dressed this way since I was 13.  I do not have any recent pictures of myself dressed down.  Perhaps I'll get my fiance to take one one morning just for fun.
  • I find it very hard to believe that any junior high or high school allowed you to attend school dressed like you are in your sig pic.
