July 2012 Weddings

Not sure how or if I should dictate hair/makeup

We're going to start really early the day of at like 6 or 7am to be able to fit all the people in who want hair and or makeup. Should I just tell people what time they need to show up for it? Or, should I ask for volunteers first and after that start dictating or drawing straws?

Also, I have my sister as my MOH and I have a matron of honor. Should they by default get to go last?

  • you need to have a schedule. My hair and makeup team sent me a schedule with time slots and had me fill all BMs/junior BMs/moms in to certain time slots. It was actually kind of complicated making sure no one was having hair and makeup done at the same time, and getting everyone's appointments spread out OK. It would get too chaotic just going with the flow.
  • I would definitely have you and any family members done first as well as the MOH...they'll be needed for pictures first...then move on from there..

    I'm having my stuff done a little while before pictures but there's no way in hell I'm waking up at 6am on my wedding day. As bridezilla as that sounds I'm just not doing it.

  • I am actually last to have hair and makeup done. my stylists said that way my styles and makeup would be freshest for the ceremony since I was done last.
  • I think I'll be second to last or so getting hair and makeup done. My SIL(my brother's wife) said she was last getting hair done and since they were running behind, she said the hair people felt rushed with her. I was getting ready to assign everyone to time slots, but my makeup artist said she doesn't want time slots, just wants to be able to grab someone whenever there is an opening. Kinda sucky, because I wanted to put my FSIL (Fi's sister) first as a penalty for being a spoiled bratty b*tch at my bachelorette party.

  • I hadn't even thought of this.  Maybe I'll make a quick schedule.  I know my cousin asked to be one of the first ones since she is only getting hair done and not makeup and has to go back to her house/check in the hotel to do make up and then go back to my parent's house for pictures.  I know I'll go somewhere in the middle since my hair has to set for at least an hour with curlers before they do the updo!

  • I'm not dictating who goes when. But I have a small bridal party and we are doing our own make-up. Also, I'm going first because that way I can just relax and enjoy the rest of the morning.
