Feelin Bummed Out

I have my first dress fitting tomorrow and I want to be more excited about it, but it's hard. I live about 13 hours from my friends and family and I wish I had someone to come with me to the fitting. I also went dress shopping alone and wish at least my mom was there to share the experience with me. Has anyone else gone through this? How did you deal with it? Thanks

Re: Feelin Bummed Out

  • It was a bittersweet experience for me my first time I went shopping.  I had only been in TX with my fiance for a few months and I went shopping with a few girls I had only known for a little while.  Don't get me wrong, they were great to go shopping with but all I wanted was my mom.  The first dress I put on was THE ONE.  I thought I would be purchasing it alone and I emotionally prepared myself for it.  I ended up going home a few weeks later and trying it on with my mom there with me but I still felt the same way about the dress.  Just enjoy your fitting and just think it will be a total surprise on the big day how beautiful you will look!

  • It was hard for me.  I will probably go to my fitting alone.  I hadn't thought about that.  I shopped with my grandmother, aunt and cousin, but my mom passed away when I was 19 and it was a hard day.  I missed her, but in the end I bought a dresss I loved and enjoyed that moment with my family.  Just think how suprised your mom will be when she sees you!!  If I lived near you...I would go with you!  LOL

  • I just had my first dress fitting yesterday, and I was by myself.  It was fine.  I don't really think I would want someone else there for the first fitting.  It was all business.  Not that big of a deal.

  • it's an A line lace dress with a sweetheart neckline. It has got detailed beading on the front and back..I loved it because it looked vintage. What about you??

  • Mine is an aline dress as well with a slight sweatheart neckline.  It is a light gold color (in between ivory and champagne) .  It has a bit of lace and detailed beading on the front and back as well!  It is a symmetrical and has rouching.  I love it!  Can't wait to wear it and I hope that I look as great in it as I want to!
