So I e-filed my taxes on Monday and they got rejected by the federal government because there was a discrepancy between my social security number and my birthdate. When I called the IRS they said that it never got caught before because they don't need to do electronic identity checks when you paper file. Because this was the first year I e-filed, they checked the social security department's records and they have the wrong birthdate.
First of all, I cannot believe that for my entire life the social security department has had the wrong information on file. Second of all, I am a little stunned that no other place that asks for my soc. number has bothered to check. Why am I finding this out NOW? UUUUUGHHH
I have to do some legwork now with the local soc. office and paper file my taxes again.
Thanks for letting me vent, everyone!
