Wedding Invitations & Paper

STDs and punctuation (aka I'm an idiot)

OK so now I know that there's no punctuation on invitations. I've been a writer and editor for so long that I can't  stand not using punctuation at the end of a clause, and I ordered my STDs before learning the no-punctuation rule. Of course, I put a period at the end of "Invitation to follow" at the bottom of my STD. Now I am freaking out and wondering if I have to reorder. Do you think that if I don't reorder, EVERYONE who gets it is going to be like "Oh my gosh, how could she use a period?!?! Doesn't she know anything???" Or can I assume that if I didn't know the rule last week, most people who aren't planning a wedding right now don't know it either? Help!

  • Don't worry about it. Shot I didn't know you weren't supposed to use punctuation, until just know. LOL!  Seriously people won't notice.  At leas you didn't misspell your FI's middle name, ARGH!! I made a typo on the RSVP postcards and switched 2 letters in his middle name, I typed Micheal instead of Michael... no one has sadi anything. He didn't even notice, I did!

  • You aren't supposed to use punctuation?

I've noticed that people often don't use it (I used to proofread documents so I pick up on these things) but I never knew it was a "rule".

I doubt anyone will notice/care that you used a period.

  • no one will know, or care, or if they do, they will assume you did it for a reason. some rules are pointless. that is one of them.

and fairy, dont feel bad, i transposed some letters in my fiance's last name, and didnt catch it until the last minute.

and my cousin is named Micheal, not Michael, his OWN FATHER spelled it wrong when he got a TATTOO of his kids names. so really, dont feel bad.

  • Thanks ladies! I feel much better now :) fairy_diva and HisCB - sorry to hear about your last minute catches, too! I guess we're always more critical of our own mistakes than others would be!
