Re: G'mornin

• Good Morning!

Apparently I had no freaking idea how much work moving/renoing was going to be...I am exhausted!  In the past 10 days or so we have managed to move, begin a reno, spend more $$$ than I thought was possible in 10 days, and go to the cottage for a few days.  Today we have to move all my school stuff into my new classroom...more moving, FML...

Nebb...I am jealous of all your foodtruck experiences.
• Morning. Renos suck numbers. We did 10 straight weeks of it. Im headed out to walk the pond before it gets too hot. Im excited to try my new sneakers.

• Good morning!  I don't think we have food trucks here.  At least not in my city, maybe in the bigger ones though?

H's surgery went well yesterday.  I was freaking out because his appointment was at 9 but he didn't call me until after 11, so I just knew something had gone wrong.  Nope.  They were just running behind (a rational person would have probably realized this).  He has his post op today, but all seems to have gone well.

I think my best friend might be moving in with us for a little while.  Her and her BF broke up this week and since they live together and she doesn't want to be there anymore I told her she could stay with us until she decided whether she wanted stay here in our city or move somewhere else (she pretty much is in a place in life now where she could do whatever she wants).  I feel so bad for her.  They have been together almost five years and were talking marriage when he out of the blue said he was interested in that.  Gah, last night was definitely a rough night when I talked to her.

<div>Well, our labour is free (DH, who spend 8 years working construction, plus his father who does renos as his living, plus our BIL is an electrician doing all the work for free, we just have to pay for permits, materials, beer and food) so that has DRAMATICALLY cut the costs. But the time issue is huge to me. Between our constant traveling this summer (three cottage trips, 2 weeks in St. Lucia and a trip to Montreal to see my family) it is difficult to be here to get shite done...so far a wall in our kitchen has come out and that work is mostly done but the extra room we are building in the basement still needs to be mudded, sanded, painted, carpeted, etc...and all of the new light fixtures we bought for the main floor need to be installed...it just seems neverending but that is only becasue I am dumb and thought we would have all the renos and unpacking done in two weeks! HA! I am going to be living out of boxes til Labour Day!</div>
• Nebb, I've seen a bunch of food trucks around me and I've never tried. I think I'm missing out. Blue, what shoes did you get? I'm tired. I decided to have MaryLou's coffee at 8pm because I was craving it. I drank 80 percent of a large, lol. Sleep did not come easy but we did get wedding party gifts and one invitation put together so FI can get it weighed today. Baby steps, but its slowly getting there.
• lbarr, I was so paranoid about the weight of out invites.  I have no idea why, but for some reason I thought, even with the right postage, they wouldn't go out and then I'd have 250 invites returned with wasted postage.  It would appear I have some irrational fears ha ha.

• Morning, ladies!

Shay, that's very nice of you. Hope your BF can get on her feet!

I'm super tired, we went out for a very nice dinner for Restaurant Week last night and it was fab. I need to sleep in one of these days, which won't happen until, oh, next Saturday. Eff.

have a great day guys!

The foodtruck thata gonna be there so far is the "blue donkey" and they do greek food. They have a fables fried calimari wrap I wanna try. At the big food truck thing I went to in may, I didn't get a chance to try them but my buddy did and said their food was amazing. OH and remember how yesterday I was so pumped it was gonna rain at the concert? Forecast was for 90 percent POP and 25 to 35mm of rain. Today? No rain what so ever for saturday. That's a pretty drastic difference, wtf.
Shay, I had the same fear. I had them weighed at the post office and on our meter at work. I was really paranoid they'd be delivered "postage due" with ugly stamps on them or returned to us. I ended up sending the invitations to our parents a couple of weeks before the rest went out to be sure they made it.
Posted by ILoveMilkDuds
<div>Yep, I did the same thing.  I sent them to our parents, grandparents, and siblings.  They all live in different cities too, so I was able to see how long it would take for them to arrive which turned out to be a nice thing to know when I got calls from people saying they hadn't received theirs yet.</div>

• Morning ladies! I've been busy checking in to my new office and such, and have finally gotten a feel of the way things run around here. I like it here, it's definitely different from Miami, so I'm sure I'll have to find different ways of keeping myself busy, but it should be fine.

My H on the other hand has been at his new job for 3 days now and is already hating it. He went from being a front-line operational leader at his old unit, to now he's teaching classes with PowerPoint. It just doesn't suit him, and he can't stop focusing on the negative. I don't know how to help him out of this funk he's in, but it's starting to wear on me. I want to support him, but I don't know how.

But, in good news, our household goods are getting delivered tomorrow, so no more sleeping on the air mattress, yay!

• Duds and Shay, that's a good idea and I didn't think about doing that. All I do know is now I'm paranoid about the whole process, lol. Nebb, that food truck sounds delish! The other day I saw a food truck that made chocolate chip, sugar, and a few other varieties of cookies.
• Good morning, ladies.

Raining like hell here, creeks threatening to overflow their banks, cars submerged, thunder, lightening. My cat's being a pusssy about the weather, and I have to drive to school in this end of days shiiit. Oh. joy.
Good morning!   Jenna, are they objectives for your job?  Do you have to turn them in or are they for yourself only?
Posted by djhar
They are for my job. I just have such a hard time making them real and not just a bunch of BS. I have a meeting at 9:30 to discuss them. Such is life. I just have never liked performance meetings and all that. And this job has too many of them!

Mehg, I'm glad you're feeling more settled!

• Morning!  Last night, I was on my way to pick up BF from dropping his car off to have work done.  Some moron had his dog off-leash in the streets, and the dog ran in front of my car as I was going through an intersection, and I didn't see it til the last second.  I slammed on the brakes, and covered my face because I was certain that I hit the dog since he hadn't come out the other side in front of my car yet.  Started to cry, then the dog comes running out and the guy just waves and mouths "Sorry!" to me.  I thought for sure I had hit the dog and had a bit of a meltdown afterward.  So that was fun.

Nebb, I want to live your life re: concerts and food trucks.
Shay, glad H's surgery went well!

Oh my god, annoying, Smash! some people are such idiots. LIke what would that guy have done if you had actually hit the dog?

There are people in my neighborhood that keep their dogs off-leash and it just really drives me batty because then my dog is FREAKING out.

Lol thanks smash. I dubbed 2012 the year of the concert. We went so long never going to things we wanted to cause of money that I finally decided eff that and I refuse to pass things up now unless there's a really good reason. I've also heard there's gonna be foodtrucks at osheaga, which should be awesome cause I know nothing about the food truck scene there.
• Smash, wtf?  Are there leash laws in your city?  Glad you (and the dog) are okay!

</div><div>Ick. I hate anything that I have to talk about what I want to accomplish or what I have accomplished. I am glad I don't have to do it often. One year I kept a list of all the things I did so when it came time to document it, I just had to copy/paste. Why I stopped doing it is because I'm lazy.</div>
• I don't know, honestly.  It's a part of the city that I rarely go to because of how Pittsburgh is set up.  This is the second close encounter I've had with dog deaths this week, and I don't like it at all.  It's freaking me out.

Nebb, I need a year of the concert.  For real.

• Also, has anyone seen the BBc Sherlock Holmes TV series? I keep hearing how awesome it is and I am thinking about buying season 1 on amazon.
• You all are making me want Greek food now, stop it. I am trying not to eat out at all this week but there is a delicious, cheap Greek place a block from my house.

I had our invitations weighed recently and I was thrilled that they only take a regular forever stamp. Unfortunately, I lost the sheet of stamps that I bought for them. If they don't turn up this weekend I'll have to get more. Thank goodness we only have 17 invitations to send so I won't be out too much money if they don't turn up.

Smash, that must have been traumatic. I would have a breakdown if I hit an animal, especially someone's pet.

I was thinking of picking up Downton Abbey this weekend if it wasn't too expensive. I thought it would be a good thing to watch while FH is away. From the sound of things he may be back on Wednesday  though, so I am not sure if i'll have time to watch it.

I still have to watch the first season of Le Femme Nikita so I am not sure if I should be buying any more series.

• Smash, I probably would have had a heart attack right then and there. I'm always the odd man out when it comes to lunch. Everyone gets takeout which around here is super cheap. I always say I should get some but I literally haven't bought lunch here in maybe 5 months. I want Chinese food and yummy salads wtf.
