Grooms Parents speak at wedding?

I just had my Bridal Shower that my FI's parents hosted. His mom talked so much it was sooo boring to everyone. I just don't want that at the wedding. My parents are hosting it so does just my parents give a little toast or do I have let his parents speak to be nice. What have  people seen in the past or what are you doing at your wedding?

I would assume it's his parents' opportunity to speak at the Rehearsal dinner, since they host THAT dinner....with your parents speaking at the wedding.  We're not having a rehearsal dinner, so I've been trying to figure out how/when to allow my FI's parents an opportunity to speak......

My in-laws just spoke without asking, lol. His grandfather did the motzi and then all of a sudden his father, mother and grandmother were up talking to the crowd.

I was surprised and a bit tifted but in the end, whatever- it didn't really matter. I still think about it today but no one else noticed/thought it was a big deal so I pretty much just dropped it.

The only people who spoke at my wedding was my MOH and his BM.  My parents hosted and did not feel the need to speak.  They went to all the tables and thanked everyone for coming.

When too many people speak it's annoying.  I went to a wedding 2 years ago and these are the people who spoke:  2 best men, moh, father of the bride, father of the groom.  All one after the other.  It took forever and nobody wanted to listen because each one of them was long winded.
