Just started Planning-want to get a head start on things

I am getting married next Nov and I am trying to get things booked in advanced so that way I can just focus on the things that don't require a booking. I am looking for a DJ and a photographer that will travel to Ankeny and won't cost me an arm and a leg and is good at what they do? Do you girls have any suggestions?

    Welcome! and Congrats. If you look a few posts down there is a thread where everyone lists who their photographers are. That should help!!

    There is a couple of different threads about DJ's or Band below.

    We're using Musical Edge they are really good. www.iowadj.com is their website!!

    We're using APL Photography and she will travel.  My wedding is September of next year and I was unaware that September is such a popular month.  Most of the affordable photographers listed in previous posts were already booked for September, which is how we ended up with APL Photography.

    I highly recommend photography by Renee http://www.photosbyrenee.org/ we just got our engagement pics back this week and I love them.  She is so easy to work with, and was pretty good price wise for what you get.

    We don't have a DJ picked yet, but our photographer is Jason Moonwell of Moon Photo.  WWW.MOONSPHOTO.COM We thought he had the best style and you can have 1 or 2 photographers.

    I am using Nuzum photography for our wedding. I loved the pictures they did for a friend's wedding. Our DJ is a friend of FI. Caterer? We might be using Lidderdale country store(alot of iowa knotties recommended them) I called them up and the prices are reasonable and they travel.

    Good call on getting a head start!

    My photographer is actually from Ankeny, and she is GREAT.  www.jenniferwatersphotography.blogspot.com .  Her packages are going up, since she is becoming very popular, but we got a super cheap price with her.  

    We were able to get a videographer, since our photography package was so low (she edits all the images, and gives you the copyright to print yourself).  We're using Visualities Videography out of Omaha.  Her mileage is very reasonable and it's cheaper than anywhere around here!  Her package prices will probably also go up, but her prices are still very, very good.  www.visualitiesvideography.com

    We haven't booked a DJ yet, but we may use Ultimate Entertainment or have a friend of ours DJ (he does this on the side).

    photographer- We're doing mandmphotosonline.com they're very reasonable priced and out of Des Moines and we loved our engagment photos!

    DJ- ultimateentertainment.cc are out of  Des Moines also and I've seen them at other weddings. they are great at getting the crowd involved. we're paying $595 for 5 hours and they have an online organizer that I love!

    I am using jenniferwaters photography also. I just met her and she is very nice and just seems really easy going and comfortable to be around. I love her pictures too. Very excited about having her!!!

    OH and I am using puttin on the hitz dj. They recieved alot of good reviews on several websites I checked out and the cost is 495 for 5 hours!  The owner is really great at communicating with you for any questions right away....very responsive! I think that Ultimate entertainment may be a little better I have heard so if you want to spend another 100 or don't mind than maybe check them out instead???
