3 Weeks Away Questions

I am full of questions today...I hope someone can help :)

1. I was thinking about doing parent albums for our parent gifts. Obviously we won't have them ready at the rehearsal dinner though, so should we just write cards that thank our parents and tell them what they will be getting?

2. I'm about to work on "place cards" ( at least I think they are called place cards- we are assignging tables, but not individual seats). Do we do them individually for each person or one per couple?

3. I called our hotels (we are getting married at the Cape so we have 3 different ones) and I'm about to start making Out of Town baskets. How many extra should I make for last minute additions? Also, do yout hink I should make them for a few friends who are staying at a different hotel that we didn't recommend...it's only one other hotel and maybe 4 extra baskets so I may just do it.

Hopefully thats all my questions for now. Boy do I have a lot to work on today!

    1. Yes, cards are how we are letting them know about the albums

    2. No, place cards are the invidual seats (usually left on the plates at the tables), escort cards are for table assignments. Do them one per couple.

    3. Not sure, how many guests are coming but haven't booked a hotel? I might try to guess who might still book it and make that amount.

    at least that is my 5 cents!

    Yes, bags should be given to all OOT whether they stay at your hotel or a different hotel.

    1. Yes, I would just write thank you notes and tell them that you'll be getting them albums later on.  Many parents don't even "expect" gifts and are surprised by this new trend.

    2. I think they're called escort cards or table cards if they're just telling you which table to go to.  I am not offering a choice of entrees (just one option for everyone) so I'm putting couples on the same card to make it easier for myself.  If you want to offer a choice of meals, you will have to make separate place cards so the waitstaff knows where to place the food.

    3. I would not make any extra bags for last-minute additions.  I'm sure those bags aren't cheap to make and it's their fault for waiting til the last minute.  But if it will make you feel guilty for not getting them anything, just make 3-4 extra.  Yes, I would also make some for the people in the other hotel.

    1. This is exactly what I did. 

    2. One per couple.  Even if you are having a meal option, my venue asked each table what they ordered so I didn't need to indicate it on the escort cards.

    3.  I would make OOT baskets for anyone you know is staying the night (at any of the hotels, as long as it is within reasonable distance for you to be able to drop them off).  I would not worry about making extra for last minute additions.

    I am 2 weeks away so I'm dealing with some of the same things you are right now!!

    2. These are called escort cards.  We are actually doing one per person, not per couple. 

    3. I don't think that you are obligated to make OOT baskets for those guests staying at non-block hotels but it is a nice gesture.  We also have a bunch of guests staying at different hotels and I refuse to drive around Newport dropping off bags, I just don't have time for that!  We are having a welcome reception the night before our wedding so I am going to have the bags for people not staying at our blocked hotels at the welcome reception.

    Other posters answered your first two questions better than I can.

    As for #3, I've been thinking about that as well. I think maybe 2 extra per hotel would be plenty just in case. As for people not staying in your room block, sure it would be nice, but not at all necessary. If it's 4 rooms at one hotel, I guess it wouldn't be too much extra work to bring them over, so ti would be nice but not necessary.

    For me, if I know a bunch of people are staying somewhere else, i guess I would, but it's likely going to be friends who get a big house together. In that case, I'm planning to just bring a basket or bin of snacks for them, similar to whats in the OOT bags but maybe throw something in like a case or beer ro soemthing.

    Thanks girls!!!

    I just finished my seating chart, yipee! I am about to start my place cards and I'm one box into my water bottle labels- 5 to go haha. Gotta love the last couple of weeks!
