Small Budget Wedding Suggestions

I am newly engaged and have just begun looking at venues. Even the seemingly budget-friendly venues turn out to be super expensive after adding in catering costs/alcohol.

Any suggestions on places where it would be realistic to host ~80 person wedding reception for under 5k?

I really have no idea how I'm going to pull this off. I am open to any type of venue- throw me any ideas!

Are you looking in any specific area of the state?

Try the off-season (not May or September), Fridays & Sundays, restaurants and parks.  My aunt had her reception at a restaurant towards Annapolis for about that price and it was pretty much the entire restaurant.  A lot of restaurants have private rooms as well.

I am getting married in Halethorpe, MD at the American Legions. It is a very nice hall and very reasonable. I am having 200 people for around $7000.

Congratulations!  I would go to your county's Parks and Recreation website to check out some locations that are pretty and well-priced.  Good luck!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm going to look at some restaraunts in little italy this weekend, the prices seemed reasonable, so we will see.

As for specific areas, I'm pretty open to anything in anne arundel/baltimore/howard counties. Not too set on a location, but most of our fam is in the Baltimore area, so we want something somewhat close.

Check out Overhills Mansion in Catonsville... it's only $800 for the space, and they have great catering options for as little as $30/pp. You can also bring in your own liquor, which saves a LOT of money.
