Ramona & Beezus: I'm sure you've all read the Beverly Cleary "Ramona" books. If you haven't then you had a horrible childhood and I feel sorry for you. Anyhow, they did an excellent job of bringing the books to life. I loved the movie and I even cried. (I'm a giant huge sap!) It's adorable and rated G - without being saccharine sweet, you know?
Pathetic moment: As if it wasn't pathetic enough that I was all verklempt at a kid's movie, I recognized one of the young actors from one of DD's kids shows. Anyone else watch Dinosaur Dan? Yeah, Dan was in it and DD and I both got overly excited about that.
Rango: This movie caused a huge brawl in our house Friday night. DH rented it for us all to watch as a family. I pointed out that it was rated PG, not G, and that SIL felt like some of it was too old for my 6 year old nephew. DH said it would be fine and that basically I was being a stick in the mud. So, about halfway through, I was getting really anxious because of the violence and DD's reaction to it. I suggested that it was time to turn it off. DH gave me a hard time, so I didn't push the issue. 20 minutes later, they have a gun to one of lovable main characters heads and I had enough. I told DH that we were turning it off. He started to be a jerk again, so I yelled at him to stop being a bully. I grabbed the remote, turned it off and sent DD to bed - we were all yelling at each other, it was a mess. Parenting at it's finest. DH was pissy (and so was I) for the rest of the night. Ugh.
Anyway, I didn't see the last 15-20 minutes, so I can't give it a proper review. But I didn't like it enough to watch the rest after DD went to bed or the next morning. It was very violent and there was a bit of rough language. Nothing horrendous, just stuff I wouldn't want DD to say. If it were just DH and I watching it, I probably would have like it.
