Re: Magazine Quotes (and I need lots of 'em)

  • Ask for help if you need it; you can't (and shouldn't) do this all yourself! But be kind and patient with those who are helping you.  With extra working hands come extra opinons.

Try to be organized, pace yourself, and do a little bit at a time.  Nothing causes more stress than a time-crunch!

  • Pick a theme! Themes are in no way essential, but they certainly make putting your wedding together a much easier task.

This day is about you, don't be afraid to get creative, use some of your favorite things as inspiration for anything and everything wedding related.
  • I took my attendant's dress to Lowe's and got a paper paint "swatch" of the color. I put it in my wallet, and now I have that color with me at all times.
I even went back and took a few more free swatches- so I could give one to my Mom, one to my MOH, and one to the florist!

  • decide up front what the most important elements of the wedding are to you and your groom, be it hundreds of flowers, letterpress invites, or a classic car. then mold your budget around them. that way you won't feel as guilty, or blow your budget, spending money on the things you really want and not on the things that aren't as important to you.

    1.  When you start planning, look at how many months you have until the big day, and make a month by month to-do list.  Write it down in a notebook with each month's list on a separate page, and cross things off as you finish them.  If you don't finish something in the given month, it gets moved to the next month's list.  For the final month, you could break it down by weeks.  That way, you will have a clear picture of your planning timeline, you will be sure not to leave too many things for the last minute, and you will be aware of it if you start to get behind.

    2.  As a previous poster said, pick vendors that you trust...and then trust them!  They are involved in a lot more weddings than most of us and often have good suggestions.

  • When looking for a vendor try to find a trusted advisor. You want someone whom you feel comfortable talking to and will help you through the process. The truth is you can find 100 photographers, caterers, bakers, etc. who are in your price range and match your style, but the one that takes the time to earn your trust is the keeper.

  • Don't sweat the small details. In the end it will all come together  and you will be married to the man of your dreams and you won't even remember the small stuff you were stressing over!!
