Bridezilla in 3....2....1....

RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I decided to call up the bridal shops to check on the status of my bridesmaid orders, only to find that my SIL never ordered her dress.

Backstory: She told me back in like January that she had gone to Priscilla of Boston and that they were suuuper nice and helpful, and that she had found a dress (which she sent me a pic of) and was all set to go!

So when I called PoB, I confirmed that one BM's dress had arrived and she had picked it up (which I already knew), and THEN found out that they had no record whatsoever of my SIL ever even being in the store. At all. Not in their computer system, not on the hard copy file.

I'm REALLY hoping that this is some glitch in their system, although I highly doubt it, knowing my SIL. I already sent her an e-mail letting her know, and I flipped it so it wasn't so accusatory toward her and gave her the number so she could call and "get it straightened out".

Grrrr I am soooo pissed right now.

    So frustrating!

Let's hope it's PoB's glitch -- and it really could be. They definitely don't keep track of everyone who comes into the store. But if she ordered it, they would have it in there for sure!

I think you acted as diplomatically as you could have. It's her responsibility to get the dress, so "get it straightened out" is perfect, especially since you didn't make it sound accusatory.

oh yuck!  That really sucks.  It's a good thing you checked (even though you shouldn't have to!).  I hope your SIL takes  care of it asap so you'll have nothing to worry about!

Holy cripes, I'd be soo frustrated too! I don't think you're being a bridezilla at all.. hopefully like you said it was an error on PoB's end, but if not, your SIL has some major explaining/apologizing to do. How shady!

    Hope everything turns out okay...

Not bridezilla at all. It's OK to vent. The important part is that you handled a stressful situation with grace! Go girl!

Um ... one she liked better?

Did you offer multiple options, or is she goin' all against the book on you?

Ugh, either way! She obviously lied to you before and how inconsiderate of her to just be telling you this now! In fact, when WOULD she have told you if you hadn't emailed her? Would she just have showed up day of in another dress?!

Yeah....idk. I did not offer multiple options...SHE was the one that "picked out" the one from PoB. (I told them we were to do same fabric, same color, their choice of style, and one of two designers)...so she's going all against the book on me, yes.

Debbie, she already IS my SIL...so there's no way to get rid of her, lol. She's my bro's wife.
  • edited December 2011
Oh my gosh!!! I can't believe she would do that, and ummmm....your wedding is less than 4 months away, pretty much past the ordering point, why wouldn't she have come to you sooner on that? I would be soooooo PO'ed!!

SO frustrating!  What are you going to do?  I'd be sooo mad.  There really does need to be some sort of BM dress support group!  I was kind of bridezilla about it and I went with each one to the store to get measured...like a little wedding outing.  lol

Yeah idk what I'm gonna do. I asked her to e-mail me a pic of it, so we'll see. If that doesn't work, I am gonna be in town next week, and we were planning to get together on Wednesday evening anyway, so maybe I can convince her to go to Nordie's to show me the dress in person....

Aside from that, I've got nothin'!

Oh wow.  You are being really calm about this.  Good for you.  You're definitely a better person than I am.  I'd want to sock her a good one.  lol What was she thinking?!

Update: Just got this friendly little message from her-

"I did not have a fitting done, I texted you the style # of the dress I liked.  I don't have a pic of the dress at Nordstrom but it's a knee length black satin dress.  (You said that we could get whatever dress we wanted as long as it was black and satin)  I will be getting the dress when I can afford to. (Obviously before the wedding).
    Thanks,"

So, first of all, I did provide so more guidelines than just black, satin, knee length. Umm hi...I told her the DESIGNER as well. Secondly, if money was an issue, she should have brought it up a looooooong time ago and we could have figured something out, she is family after all. UGH....the things we brides have to deal with!!!

And my response (sometimes I think I am way too nice for my own good! LOL):

"I just want to make sure that you get the dress you want, and that it will coordinate well with the dresses the other bridesmaids have chosen. I am concerned that we are less than 4 months away because if you were to order a dress, it would most likely not be in on time unless there was some way to rush order it, and even then we may still have to deal with alterations. My mother had seen a dress that she really liked, and decided to wait, and when she went back to get it, it was sold. I would hate for that to happen to you. I will be in town next week, like we talked about, so if you would like, we could go look at that dress at Nordstrom, as I would love to see it! We could also maybe look at some other stores too if you would like.
Let me know what you think!"

You could likely find the dress on ebay, trash to treasure, or one of the many second-hand dress websites out there.

WOW you are far from a bridezillia.. I'm actually worked up just THINKING about what I'd do if this happened to me.  My bridesmaids needed to get their orders in by the end of Oct to have them arrive a week ago.

I feel for you, but you are being such a wonderfully understanding person.  I'd slap the B-tch when I seen her. LOL

AND I thought MY Future SIL was a pain.

Well I guess if she wants to look like she doesn't fit into your wedding party, you can smile a bit by the fact she will be the odd-ball.  Sealed
