AW: Blogged!!!

Sorry to be an attention whore again, but our awesome photographer, Shannon Sorensen, blogged about our TTD/"Rock the Frock" photo session last Sunday at Green Animals Topiary Garden, and I HAD to share the pics!!! We LOVE them!!! She did such an amazing job. It was crazy hot out, but she sweated it out with us, and the pics came out so great.

If anyone else is thinking of going to Green Animals for a photo shoot, I definitely recommend it! We originally were planning on heading to Newport after leaving Green Animals, but ended up staying there the whole time (Newport was a little futher than we had realized, and there were SO many cool places on/around the property to take pics, we didn't really have to leave!).

Thanks, girls!!! We had SOOOO much fun!

Shannon was awesome to work with, really creative with her shots, and open to our ideas too.

@bostonbride: I LOVE the swings! They had 2 different tree swings and of course I had to try them both

@star: LOL I think the "glow" was the sun & sweat!! It was so hot! Some of the pics with the sun reflecting off the foliage behind us came out so neat though...it resulted in almost a halo effect around us.

@erilou: it's not too late for you! My friend is doing a TTD for her 1 year anniversary next month--she's pumped. I think you can do it whenever...and another friend of mine just had her 3 year anniversary and is thinking of doing something for their 5th year anniversary. You don't have to do the veil and everything, but can do some cool married and in love shots.

Great location, did you take any more pictures with the Topiary animals? I love the location of this place but found the fee from the Preservation society to be a little high.

We took a lot more photos with the topiaries. All in all Shannon took 800+ photos! She then went back through them, edited, deleted the squinty eye ones, etc. and we ended up with 131 edited photos--she just picked her favs for her blog.
I think their fee was $250 for a photo permit, or $100 if you were a "member" of the Newport Preservation Society. We joined for $90, so we saved $60 by going that route, and it's nice bc we can go back to Newport & get free admission to tour the mansions & invitations to their events for the next year. They didn't charge us entry fee or anything when we got there (even for the extra people who came with us--hubby's sister, mom & nonna). We changed in the restrooms, and they were very excited to have a bride/groom there. We had a 1 hour permit, and weren't sure what was going to happen after an hour (like, were they going to kick us out?!). Nothing happened, actually. We were there in & around the property for about 2.5 hours.

Hooray!! I saw them on FB this morning and I couldn't stop smiling! I love them all especially the bear topiary! We got married in Portsmouth, RI so it's definitely special in my heart! Congrats! xoxo

@snoangel: Thanks! We had SOOOO much fun on the skateboards. DH is a MUCH better skateboarder than I am, and he was zigging and zagging all around me while I carefully went back & forth, trying not to run over my dress!

Janey dear -

God love you girl for thinking I could get my butt back into that dress 265 days later! The lbs have made a fierce reappearance since the wedding day - trying to drop them now, ha! I'm also trying to sell my dress too though, so it was just cleaned. But I'd love to do some sort of one-year shoot.... maybe buy another dress... muh ha ha ha! I have to drive by VOWS twice a day and there are always such pretty things in the windows!
