Where did you buy your veil?

Hi ladies,

I'm looking for a cathedral length veil, with blusher and ivory satin ribbon trim. I was quoted 750 at the bridal store where I bought my dress. Can someone explain to me why it would cost this much just for a long piece of fabric. 

Where did you get yours for a cheaper price?

    Veils are expensive!

    I bought my veil at Superior Bridal in Markham when I bought my dress.  They gave me a bundle price because I bought my dress, veil and head piece at the same time.  My veil is gorgeous, cathedral length with beading along the edges, and it probably cost me about $200-300.

    Have you already purchased your dress?  If so your bargaining power has diminished.  Ask them if they'll give you a better rate because you bought your wedding dress from them.  If that doesn't work, maybe you could leverage the purchasing of your bm dresses?

    I bought my dress at a sample sale. When I was at the store I asked the girl if the veils ever go on sale and she said no. I believe she mentioned along the lines that they do not usually offer discounted price as this veil is made in new york. I am a bit worried about buying from anothe place because I want to make sure it looks good with the dress. I also need a bolero to go with my gown for the cermony so the stylist at the boutique will work with me to complete the look.

    although I am not paying for the veil and my bolero however when I think about the cost of these 2 together, it was about 1,000. I'm not comfortable with this amount because it is way too much.

    I would wait until you have your dress in, you've decided on a hair style and makeup style, and then pick a veil - whether it be from your bridal store or another.  That way you have a clear vision in your head.  That seems like a lot of money - maybe see if one can be made for you by a seamstress at a better price?  I didn't wear a veil so I can't be of much more help!

    I borrowed mine from my MOH (who managed to get her bridal store to throw it in for free) but you can find lots of veils for much cheaper on eBay or www.occanseydesigns.com.

    I got mine at Sussman's Bridal on Queen just west of Spadina, on the north side. It looks a little sketchy but it was so awesome, they can basically make it custom for you, there a lot of samples and then you tell them what you like from each for yours. Mine was about $100 for almost cathedral length, no trim though.

    You could also try the Bride's Project, they have a bunch of new veils there for less than $100, the lady who runs it makes them herself.

    My sister had her veil made from the lady who runs the Bridal Project. It was very nice and comparable quality to those I saw in bridal stores. Her's was about $50 for a fingertip veil with a ribbon edge and beading on the haircomb.

    I ordered my veil from Izabella in Mississauga, but mine was single-tier fingertip length for $169 (a lot of beading on the edge). I didn't see the cathedral-length veils but $700 sounds pretty steep.

    I hope you can find something you like at a more agreeable price! I suggest the bridal project or etsy.
