Postage for International RSVP Cards?

I don't know if this topic was covered yet or not, but do you include postage for RSVP cards for invitations sent overseas?  I know the invitation itself costs 98 cents to send overseas, but since currencies vary from country to country, I don't know if it makes sense for me to put a 98 cents stamp on the RSVP envelope for international guests.  Please advise, thanks.

Re: Postage for International RSVP Cards?

  • You don't need to include postage for the RSVP if it's going overseas. Actually, a lot of places wont even mail it with a foreign country's postage. They have to have their own postage if they want to send it from their country to ours. (I ran into the same problem with mailing to Canada) If you want, you could always include the option for those across seas to email their RSVP if they would like - but it wont break the bank for them either, so whatever you choose :)
  • Thanks, RLaugh.  Luckily, I'm only sending out two international invitations:  one to Switzerland, the other to Norway.
  • If you put US stamps on them they will go to waste because other countries won't mail them.  I am getting Canadian stamps to put on the reply cards of the invitations we are sending to Canada.

  • great question! i have the same issue. my FI is from Ireland so we're sending lots of invites over there and i wasn't sure how to handle the RSVP envelope either. i was thinking of doing email, but we'll probably end up having to call people anyway so i don't think we'll be putting any postage on the response envelope. i'm hoping people will understand!
  • I was stumped as well.  Thanks for sharing the info.  I am going to mail when I am in Canada and can have the post office send them and give me return postage to go to the US.  I also have some for Scotland and didn't know what to do or how to get postage from Scotland for the RSVP card.  I will add something with my email and phone for those :o).  Thanks girls!
