Can I have a train cutt off a dress and it still look right??

Does anyone know if it is possible to have train cutt off a dress and the dress will still look right? Is it hard to find a alteration place that will do this? I bought my drss at david's bridal and from what I read online they won't do it. This is my dress.

  • David's wont do it because they have a  contract with whoever designed their gowns that they will not alter them in any way at all.  The only exception is taking it in, or hemming it, obviously.
  • Why won't this thread show up?  All I am getting is a "Reply to a Message" box?  I'm confused
  • I think you could take it to a different alterations place, which is pretty much standard recom for anyone who buys their dress from DB, and I'd bet they shorten it.
  • I am using my mothers dress and to save some money I cut the sleeves off and the train off.  Honestly I could wear it the way it looks right now and it would look fine.  I dont recomend doing it yourself so go to a seamstress. The only reason I did it myself is A. I would get charged for her to cut a few threads and B. where I cut will most likely be covered by something or snipepd in the end anyway.  Good Luck.
