Mandalay Bay Reception prices/options?

Hello! I'm now looking into possibly getting married at mandalay bay. I was wondering if anyone had any pricing info for 60-70 people. I'd be up for using a banquet room, suite...whatever! I want it to be somewhat reasonable. I saw one reception package online at mandalay bay that was about 18,000...I don't want to spend that much! lol.

I've got the group dining info and prices for the Restaurants in Mandalay bay if that's any use? I could email to you if you want.

If you have an in suite reception yoou can have outside caterers. Masterpiece and Absolute beverage are meant to be good and their prices are reasonable.

You could look at any of their larger suites. Vista 1700 sq ft (One knottie had hers there and had 65 people), Media 2170 sq ft (I'm doing mine there for 60 -80 people) I think the Media has an option of getting a room attached also but you won't know until you check in if there is one (options were the Skyview or the 550 sq ft suite(can't remember what it is called))

Masterpiece, Jason's deli and Maggianos have all been used for the food.

awesome thanks! I'm not positive on my guest count but I would say between 60-80. I wasn't sure if the Media suite was big enough, but you have the same guest count as me so that makes me feel better.

So I'm assuming Mandalay bay lets you bring in outside vendors? And you just stay there the one night obviously and then we can pick a normal room the rest of the nights? I know one girl said she went and bought a bunch of alcohol the day before the wedding..that's a good idea. Or if I didn't do that what vendor would I get alcohol from? My guests love to drink!

I feel so dumb but I'm just so overwhelmed. There is just too much to choose from!

@clareholloway: I know I'm not the one who asked, but I'm a lurker who would really love to see the group dining/restauraunt prices that you have. Right now I have an in-suite planned, but the guest list keeps growing so I'm considering other options. Thx!

Looking at about 65. I don't like the media suite, and we want to stick with MB cus we already have people who have booked rooms there. Just curious to see what prices are like at the restaraunts. We currently have the vista suite booked.

@ginamarie1985 - Okay, i'm jealous you were able to book the vista, I really liked it but it was already booked, sad. :-( And like you I have guests that have already booked there, so rather than not have anywhere I booked there. And I had a 30% off coupon. Still trying to get a feel for the layout, seems a little different but we will have to make it work. Are you going to use outside catering?

@wallacje: Sorry you couldn't get the Vista. I booked mine literally the day the rates were published 10 months in advance. I was thinking less people would come then what it now looks like, so I figured we would be safe with the size, but as more people tell us they are coming, the more worried I am about it. I agree with you about the layout of the media suite, which is why we didn't want to book it, and we really want a view. Yes we are using outsde catering - Masterpiece.

If you end up with around 60 you could keep checking back on the availability of the vista, but if you're more toward 70+, I think you better stick with the media suite. Good luck!

I'm not going to be able to see these suites before I book them. What didn't you like about the media suite?

dizzygoo, you can take a virtual tour of the suite on the MB website, and you can look for videos of it on youtube. I just didn't like how its divided up into several rooms, as opposed to the vista suite that is pretty much one big room. I felt that would make it so only small groups of ppl could mingle together. I also didn't like the small window area and pool view compared to the huge windows and semi-strip view in the Vista. But it does have more overall square footage than the vista, so it will fit more people, and it has more chairs than the vista, so those are the good things. It all just depends on your own personal preferences and guest count

I think you'd be looking at a minimum of 18k for a half-night buy out of any of their restaurants since whatever they quote you is without tax and without 20% service charge, so you may be left with a suite as the only option if you want to keep it at MB and don't want to go that high on the spend. Some of the larger restaurants may be able to accommadate that number if you don't mind them having other people in the restaurant? If you don't mind that, House of Blues may be an option to look at; their larger room on the casino level (not the foundation room up top) seats about 150 I think, so they could have your group at one end of the room with private bar and still seat other guests in the first part of the room away from your party. That would probably prevent you from having your own music, etc. if that's something you wanted to have. Their ball rooms are all in the convention hall area and not that great; they look really bland and dull, and by the time you rent the room and cater it, you're going to be over what you wanted to spend anyway.
