Well, first let me say hello, knotties and happy Friday!
New to this board, not to the Knot (I usually hang out at Etiquette, LOL)
Sooo. I need to rant for a sec, and also request some advice.
We booked our DJ (voted #1 in CT by Knotties for a few years now - Music in Motion) - back in December. Our wedding is August 28 of this year. We booked at our first meeting, without interviewing others, because these guys come highly recommended, our venue has them listed as a preferred vendor, and they usually get good reviews.
So, we're guaranteed at that meeting that we will have the same DJ throughout, barring a major emergency. Sweet. That put us at ease. The owner books us with his top DJ (lots of experience, great rep, highly recommended on his own merits) and we're thrilled. Deposit is paid, contracts signed, and we're good to go.
DJ calls and leaves his cell number and friends me on FB - great. Two ways to get in contact, I'm feeling even more confident.
Fast-forward to about two or three weeks ago - I get an e-mail from the DJ company saying it's time to set up the final meeting before the wedding and it needs to be scheduled immediately. Okay. So I call and I get the big brush-off from the owner. He asks me to call back at the end of the month because he's so busy and doesn't know what his August schedule looks like, or I can contact my DJ directly because he doesn't handle his schedule. Um, okay.
So, I wait a couple weeks because they are so busy and find that I lost the DJ's cell number (oops!) and decided to send him a FB message this morning.
I tell him we're looking forward to sitting down with him, comfortable that we're in good hands, and that we've heard nothing but great things.
His response? "Kerry, I am so sorry, but [the owner] has me booked for another wedding that day. Please call him for further details."
UM, WHAT!?!
So I put a call in to the owner at 8 AM today and am still waiting to hear back. I did tell the owner that I expect a call today in order to discuss this issue and hopefully come to a mutually satisfactory agreement.
But anyway - I know the rational thing to do is wait and see what this guy has to say, but I'm not only pretty angry, but worried that we're stuck with this company (with 35 days til the wedding everyone else has gotta be booked) and wondering if they're going to be able to come through for us on the day of. As of now, we have a deposit paid, but no solid DJ booked for that date. And no one bothered to let us know of this!!!! Because of that, I'm already trying to line up other options. I'm pretty disgusted with how unprofessional they have been and are being.
Any suggestions on good DJ's (or at this point, bands) for me to try?
Thanks, everyone!
