NWR vent

my future BIL and SIL got a puppy in febuary and they were going on vacation and asked if we can watch the puppy. of course we say yes but this puppy has been a terror since he got here.

First of all, he was humping all over my dog to the point i needed to bring my dog to my mothers the first night he was here. so i feel really bad my dog needs to be away from home for a week b/c we are dog sitting.

Secondly this dog is into everything! I dont remember my dog being this bad but he's chewing on my coffee table, chairs and anything he can get his hands on. he is jumping all over my son and scratching everyone and he is super hyper.

Thirdly, my SIL told me that he is trained to go outside so we are walking this dog 4 and 5 times a day, and he is peeing and pooping all over my house. the other night we brought him for a walk then put him in his crate and he pooped in his crate, ate it, and vommited it and was covered in poop and vomit in the morning. I gave him two baths since he is here and he still stinks.

I love animals but this dog is crazy lol. two more days then i need to rent a carpet cleaner lol

Oh man!  That really sucks!  That's why when FI askes for a puppy, I quickly say not only no, but heck no!  I love puppies but I hate the destruction they cause.  Good luck during the next two days and hopefully he calms down a bit for you.

  • Oh No! I I have been through puppy training with a very destructive pug! So I know how you must feel with training him to go outside and all. I think the only thing that kept us sane was walking him every 2 hrs and no fluids after 7pm. I believe we even woke him up in the middle of the night to walk him real quick. We put him in the crate at night... do you have one? It may help with all this.. good luck!!!! and its only 2 more days!

  • Oof puppies are a handful in general and for this one he's been through A LOT of changes in a very short period of time. Most behaviorists don't even suggest visitors to a new puppy for the first few weeks, much less havng to switch homes, again.

He's probably terribly confused, try to keep that in mind with your frustation.

  • That sounds horrible! I was about to suggest putting him in a crate but that obviously doesn't work. How old is he?

This also slightly terrifies me because pretty soon we are going to have SIX puppies running around the house as we have a litter that is two weeks old right now. Yikes, hope they don't terrorize anything.
  • it sounds like the dog is a handful! i know some dogs get bad anxiety if they are taken from their normal... maybe thats the dogs problem?
when fi and i went looking to adopt a dog we specifically requested no puppies, just adult dogs. we lucked out we got a dog who is already trained to go outside, no accidents. tho we are dealing with the chewing thing. she has already destroyed her dog bed, so i know what your going through.
Some dogs need something to do or they get distructive. or if it is a puppy maybe its teething?
    Good Luck!
