Coco Robicheaux?!?! (officiant help!!)

My fiance and I need to book an officiant soon, but are not looking to have a religious ceremony.  I have read that some reverends will do primarily secular cerermonies, but we are honestly not that keen on the idea of even having a reverend as our officiant.  Our only other option seemed to be to get a random judge to do it...but I've heard that Coco Robicheaux, the musician, is ordained.

We love the idea of using him in theory...but are concerned that it might be a little too weird or over the top...or that that raspy voice of his that I love in his music might be a little difficult to understand in a wedding ceremony.

I've seen some old posts about him on this board, but they were pretty vague about what he is actually like as an officiant.  It sounds like he basically does his own thing...but I'm not sure what that actually entails.  Has anyone used him that can help shed some light on this for me?

we're using him for our october 30th wedding.  he'll do whatever you would like but if you want to know everything he will say, he might not be for you.  he's doing an apache wedding blessing (you can look it up online, it's really a sweet saying).  we spoke with him on the phone and he was awesome.

Thank you so much...I think we are really leaning toward using him if he is available.  Our wedding is not until May...any chance you could post something after your wedding about how you liked it?  :)

Coco married my brother and sister in law. I agree that if you are particular about what you want your officiant to do/say then Coco might not be the right person for you.  He is spiritual but not religious...kind of in a voodoo sort of way. He is a super sweet guy... I really enjoyed talking to him.  He definitely made the ceremony very unique and memorable.

of course i will let you know how it goes.  we're thinking of doing a live webcast of our ceremony (this is a destination wedding and a lot of people can't make it).  if we do, i'll send you a link if you'd like!

We had Coco officiate our wedding on 10/30/10.  He was awesome!  Such a sweet man.  He did an excellent job.  Everyone loved him - even my religious, more traditional family members said that he was great and was totally "us."  My husband posted our short, but sweet 15 min ceremony on youtube.

You can see them here if you're interested!
