Anyone here?

This Isaac thing is really getting old.  Anyone here?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: Anyone here?

  • Yes really old. Sitting here in Baton Rouge with the power out.
    image
  • You have power, Lynda?
  • Hey!  I was about to start one of these soon.  I'm here.  Watching the republic convention a little before Big Brother starts at 7.

Glad you're still with us Lynda.  Is the storm dying down yet?  I haven't been paying attention except through your FB posts :)  I should probably be ashamed.. LOL. But so much of it turns into tragedy and worst case scenarios and my hormonal self would be sitting here bawling if I watched too much of it.
  • I'm impressed that you have power Lynda.  Glad you, your H, and Chef D are hanging in there.

I just got home from the grocery store.  I probably bought more than I needed to, but I wanted to earn the extra gas points.  I had a coupon for 300 gas points if I spent $50 and another for 100 points if I spent $45.  The $62 I did spend was worth it for sure.
  • I spend more than I plan to every time I go to the store.  I'm still playing a little bit of "replace the staples" in my kitchen since I tossed so much partly used stuff when we moved.  When I packed the kitchen to move out of my house, I didn't have a job yet and was moving in with my MIL (thank God that didn't last long) so I tossed some staples that I might have kept if I'd known I'd actually be moving within the month.  I realized last week when H picked up Five Guys for dinner that I haven't replaced the malt vinegar yet.
  • I'm here.

M is in Nantucket with the boys for the long weekend so I have an extra bedroom.  Come on up!

  • I am not looking forward to buying spices/naking supplies/etc. once I get a place of my own again.  That crap gets expensive.
  • Hi OOT!

Steelz - it certainly does.  I'm trying to buy it as I need it, or as I plan recipes that use them, which is why I've been here for 4 months and still have no malt vinegar :).
  • And I packed most of my spices... it was things like different kinds of vinegar, condiments, anything refrigerated.  Rice packets and stuff.  I invited some of our friends to come "shopping" in my cupboards before I threw away what was left.
  • Yeah, buying things as I need them will definitely have to be the plan of attack.
  • I pretty much gave my entire pantry to a friend of mine when I packed up and moved.  I didn't know how long my stuff would be in storage (it's been almost 2 years now FML), so I didn't think it would be a good idea to keep anything.
  • I knew I'd be moving out here within two or three months so I kept some stuff, but I was fairly selective about it since I knew it would be in boxes in the basement until we actually got me moved and had a place out here to bring it.

I moved upstairs here, 3 floors, about 7 years ago and I'm just finishing unpacking.  (seems I bought a lot of dupes out of laziness
  • Not laziness OOT.  You've been immobile/limitedly mobile for a fair bit of that 3 years.  Blame the surgeries :).

    True

I'm hoping the new physical therapy program will finish this all up for me!
  • Hey everyone... probably a P&R. Finally (after 3 days of fighting for it) got approval to swap sections of my science course. Frustrating that I had to miss this afternoon's class and then wasted my time in the evening class that I'd originally enrolled in just because the  department was ignoring my advisor's requests for me to be authorized to switch, but oh well. It's changed moving forward...

DH and I are eating a skillet and watching the new Storage Wars Texas episode.

  • Fingers crossed for you OOT.

YAY for getting your class switched KB - enjoy dinner.
  • I'm here. Trying to convince myself there is nothing wrong with me. I had surgery two weeks ago and now I have weird abdominal pain. Guess I make a doctors appointment tomorrow. Lynda, I hope everything is ok. Glad you still have power, if you do.

  • Af - weird pain after surgery, I'd probably err on the side of caution and go to the doctor.
  • Thanks, Loopy. That's what I'm thinking.

  • I agree, Afe... I'd get an appointment. Better safe than sorry.

Can NYU go jump off a bridge? Or better yet, can someone push her? Please?

She's awful. I'm sure she is just saying the same things over and over just to get attention. Surely she can't be that obtuse.

  • KB - I'll alibi you :).

    You rock, Loopy!

***If NYU winds up plummeting off a bridge, it wasn't me... just ask Loopy!***

But seriously, I love how she tried to call me out for bringing up step parents and money, like I'm looking for a step with deep pockets. Umm, no, I actually like both of my bio-parents SOs... and respect my bio parents enough to include them even if I don't have a really close relationship. You hoar.
  • Kelly, i2i.  I am watching Here Comes Honey Boo Boo out of morbid curiousity and she makes the little girl, Alana, look like the Queen of England or something. But I poke the troll, so there is that.

  • Hi Rsanna...
  • Hello,

Sorry I have been a lurker-loo lately everywhere.  But I guess, I was never really super active before.  Especially when the threads were always dead by the time I would get to work.  But I understand I am probably being obnoxious.

  • I recognize you as being a voice of reason in all the NYU threads lately... so stick around :).
  • Haha, I try, but I usually end up talking to a wall.  I float back and forth between here and the PB.  I'm usually never online this late, though.

  • I float back and forth too.

It's not that late here :)
