Booked! The Merion!!

I finally have one thing done for my wedding - I'm booked at the Merion for April 30, 2011!  I feel like there is a HUGE weight lifted now that I finally have a date and a place.  After some disappointments at some other venues, I am super excited!

What do you all recommend looking for next?  I was thinking band/photogs, maybe....

    After I booked my venue, I booked my photographer, DJ, then videographer. GL!

    Congrats on booking the venue!! I'm getting married at the Merion in Jan 2011.  What ballroom are you in?  I first booked my venue then my photographer, DJ, lighting company, florist and string quartet.  I really went with people that were familiar with the Merion and came recommended by people at the Merion and of course wedding wire.  Good luck with the planning!!

    I am in the Empire room.  I really liked the ambience there - I loved the sculpture and the fish tank.  I kind of like that it's not traditional.  I also loved the Skylight, but it was booked on the dates we were considering, so the choice was made for us!  I think our band will be booked next, but mostly because we plan to use someone who has worked with the family a lot in the past.  I figure since that is essentially done, I'll move on to photography/videography.  Though it is intimidating - a lot of girls on these boards have a lot done so early on!!

    Congrats!  You have enough time to take it slow and just focus on one vendor at a time for now  :)   Good luck with planning!

    Congrats on finding your venue! I would start looking at photographers next. We started looking at them about a year and 3 months out and many we liked were already booked.

    Can you tell me how much they quoted you for spring 2011 and how many guests you are having? I'm also looking at the Merion for 2011 and I"m curious how consistent their pricing is for each meeting they do. Based on some of the posts I'm read I'm concerned that I'm being quoted way more than some other brides.

    The Merion is so beautiful.  Congratulations.  I agree, I looked for photog first, then DJ.  (we've decided we weren't getting a video).

    The Merion is awesome-congrats on choosing your venue! I would also suggest booking your photographer and videographer next and also start looking at dresses for you and your girls if you haven't already done so.

    Congrats!!

    We are getting married in June of 2011... and our reception is in the Skylight Room @ The Merion.. we are super excited!

    After we booked with The Merion and the church, we took some time away from wedding planning.  We recently got back into it and booked a dj, photographer, transportation... within the next 2 weeks we shoudl have a videographer and florist lined up... happy planning   :)
