NFP App?

Does anyone use an NFP App?  We're in the process of moving, and I think it would be much easier for me to track my signs if I was using my phone rather than trying to keep my paper chart handy.  I already learned the hard way that keeping it with my necessities can be a problem (contact solution came open and soaked it).

I know fertility friend has an app [click]
  • I've downloaded an app on my DroidX called "Charting App" - I know, they were REAL creative with the name!  I don't use it for charting everyday, but I've used it for times when I'm traveling and don't want to bring my whole chart, and just go back to fill in later.  I use it for Creighton, but it should have the ability to keep track of temps if you're using a method that involves those.

I do sympto-thermal and use OvuView for my Android phone. There is a free version (which I use) and also a pay version which allows you to further customize and choose which rules you want the app to use for deciding when you are fertile or not fertile.

With the free version since I have TTA selected it is overly cautious and tells me I could be fertile for over half of my cycle, so I mainly use it to just record everything in the morning (it pops up with a reminder to enter my temp when my alarm goes off on my phone), and look at the charts myself. But I really like having it on my phone, although we have started paper charting too now that I am married my husbands job is to record everything on the paper chart at the end of the day.

  • Creighton doesn't use one. :(  My friend designed one and has it ready for them, but they won't use it. That's my one big issue with Creighton. I realize that they want quality control and well defined boundaries of what it means to be "using" the method, but there can be ways to make that continue with an app.
  • I sure hope they come up with a Creighton app some day!  The chart is just so big, and it's always falling behind my nightstand and stuff.  I would much prefer an electronic chart, for sure.

The one I have, Charting App, seems like it can be used for Crieghton.  It has the option of all the stickers used (and a few extra that I'm not really sure what they're for), and most of the observations.  You can add in your own if needed, and make notes (that's where I put in my X1, X2, AD, etc.)  I only have the free version so it only could save one month at a time.  I definitely won't switch to using only that anytime soon as I"m still doing follow-ups with my teacher, but it would allow me to record all the same stuff I do on my paper chart.  It's nice to have for traveling, much easier than bringing my big chart and bag of stamps :)

I used the one by nfpcharting.org (Billings only) when I had an iPhone.  I use the same one as erin (Charting App) now.  I also have OvuView, but I don't use it since we're TTA.

My doctor also recommended a website called ovulationmentor.org.  Apparently it is based on Billings but is more data-specific, which she says she's trying to push WOOMB to move toward.

    Awesome, thanks so much ladies!!!
  • Billings does not recommend ovulation mentor and there is actually legal action against the site I believe by WOOMB. Why does your doctor want WOOMB to change towards ov mentor?
