Android Phone App Recommendations?

I just had to completely wipe my phone in order to set up my work calendar (we're now on Google.)  I'm taking this an excuse to add to my fun things on my phone.

What are you favorite apps? why?

Re: Android Phone App Recommendations?

  • There's an app called Aldiko that I love.  You can download books and it turns your phone into a reader.

  • Fun fact I heard, probably more of a Snapple fact: George Lucas gets paid everytime some one uses the word droid bc he invented it. You now owe George 3 dollars. I think I owe him the same.

<div>He actually DOES get a cut everytime Verizon/etc advertises using the word "Droid."  I think android is common use though.</div>

  • I suppose I should have thrown out my favorite too, to be fair :)

    Pandora (duh)
Advanced Task Killer (ATK)- not really a game, but still saves my battery life
    Shazam

LTZ- I have Verizon, and the HTC Eris, which was the first android phone they got. I've had it since early February and I love it.
  • Thanks Steph - I was looking into the Droid Incredible because I've heard good things about it. But I'm open to anything. I'm a current BlackBerry enthusiast. BlackBerry's are wonderful and I feel very loyal to them, though they lack the bells and whistles of newer smartphones so I'm having a hrd time. I'm not sure what I'll do but I'm definitely looking for something a little more media driven soon.
  • kik messenger
    weather bug
    alchemy
    dropbox
    fruit ninja
    ny times
    paper toss
    wordfeud

    there are so many more....

also don't bother with any kind of app killer or those "battery saver" programs. they don't actually do anything other than make you feel better, and can cause serious issues due to changes they sometimes make in programs.

Says who?  Verizon installed mine for me, and when I called because I was having issues with my battery randomly completely discharging, the first thing they asked me was if I had Advanced Task Manager and used it...

<div>Ditto.  And, um, what 'changes' are they making to the programs?  I could go into each program directly and close out but that takes time.  And, my phone is noticeably faster when I do 'kill' all of the programs.  Especially because there are like 15 programs that start up running when I turn on the phone.</div>

  • I'm late, but I have Facebook, Weather Channel, ATK, WordFeud. I've also got one for ringtones, I just don't remember its name.

LTZ: We have Verizon and both have a Droid 2. I love my phone (posting from it now) and I haven't heard J say anything bad about his. He had a Samsung Fascinate first but returned it for the D2.
