POB Ladies

How much were your alterations?  I'm going in March 23rd and I want to have an idea of what I'll be charged so I won't pass out from shock.

I passed out.  Twice.  Mine were a whopping total of $659 for hemming, taking in the bust, adding cups, and fitting it to my body around the hips (they ordered me the wrong size... then forced me to order extra length-- which then made it TOO BIG once they altered to the size I SHOULD have ordered).

... i'm bitter with POB. haha.

    Good luck!

btw- my dress only cost $1750...

I decided not to do my alterations there.  My friend got her dress there and said her only regret from her wedding was having POB do the alterations bc they were so expensive (I can't remember, but I think hers were close to $600!).  I canceled my POB alterations appt and just this morning booked an appt with Fay Carraher in Billerica (I was deciding between her and Chris O'Hare, but Fay is closer to where I work/live).
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

Wow, I just passed out and I don't have to pay for it haha.

I'm actually going there to order my RD dress tonight.

Mine were $400- but my dress is the exact perfect length- so that's the bustle, and taking it in. They were very nice and they seamstress was super nice. I have my second fitting in May. GL!

Yikes!  Thanks ladies.  I know the hem wont be touched....thank god, so it's just taking it in and the bustle.

Better to know before hand then to be blind sided lol.  I'm glad it all went well clb :)  That's what I'm hoping for as well!

Everyone says how expensive mine is estimated to be (I'm getting a fitting tomorrow) $300 from D'ianthe Designs in Worcester. I bought the dress from ebay from a Chinese seller for $140. It's a gorgeous silk dress but the seamstress does have to do a lot of work to it to get it to look right.

The whole top has to be taken in at the waist and cups added, the cap sleeves have to be moved closer together, the hem was cut unevenly and has to be fixed, the piece of fabric that goes behind the lace-up back has to be cut smaller to fit and starched so it becomes stiff, the train is going to have a tie added so it can be pinned up, and she is also letting me rent a puffy skirt to go underneath($20 rental fee that gets returned when I return the skirt). With a few other small things that need to be fixed It also has to be cleaned, steamed and shaped since it came in an envelope package about 4 inches thick. (I was amazed it fit in there). But considering how little I paid for the dress and how much work she is doing to it I think it’s a steal. I'll find out tommorrow if more has to be done.

    The dress:

My alterations from POB are free because they screwed me over several times and I wrote them a lovely letter explaining my disappointment in them and they rewarded me with free alterations! I'm sorry to hear they are so friggen expensive...blah POB.
