So my dad has 3 daughters, I am #2 and the second one to get married. He danced with my older sister to daddy's little girl and then I told him he could pick the song for our dance. Well he gets back to me and says "celine dion; because you loved me". . .I was like ummm that seems super creepy to me hahaha I told him to try again hahah Not sure why but it seems very much like a first dance song to me, not a F-D song.
What are/did all you girls pick?
Re: Father Daughter song
We danced to Ill remember by Madonna. Its kind of an upper tempo song, but it worked well for us.
I think we're going to go with "Father and Daughter' by Paul Simon. It's very cute and a little more up tempo, and hopefully because of that I won't cry like an infant. I was also considering "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper or "Kind and Generous" by Natalie Portman.
I'm also one of three girls and the second to get married. My oldest sister danced with my dad to "In My Life" by The Beatles.
I can see how it can be a song for a first dance, but to me it reminds me of my father.
RSVP Deadline: June 15, 2011
[QUOTE]This post makes me sad...sorry to be a downer :(. My dad passed away in August right after I got engaged. My 2 brothers who I am close with are walking me down the aisle and I was thinking about dancing with both of them (share the song with each one) to "I loved her first" in memory of my dad who I was really close with.

<div>I'm sorry to hear that :( I think that would be a nice tribute to your dad.</div><div>
</div><div>We're dancing to "Baby Girl" by sugarland, it's not really a mushy song but my dad and I both love the band and went to their concert this summer so it has a lot of meaning to us.</div><div>
</div><div>OP - if your dad really likes the song and didn't just pick it randomly to make you happy, I think you should do it. </div>

<div>Thank you...Aww, that's nice. I think the best thing to choose is the one that makes you and your dad smile or represents your relationship. It's definitely one of the most special moments a dad and daughter can share...</div>
[QUOTE]@Ashlie Im so sorry, didnt mean to upset anyone :( so sorry to hear about your dad and that sounds like a great way to celebrate him. Makes my post seem superficial, its good to put things into perspective. Thanks ladies!

<div>I didnt mean to make you apologize! I'm sorry! I'm just super sensitive whenever anyone puts dad and wedding into the same sentence. I broke down during 2 meetings with officiants! Sorry for making you feel bad! Honestly, you should feel so lucky having your father with you that day and any song you choose will be special.</div>

[QUOTE]I'm using "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. Back when the song came out on cassette tape years ago I gave it to my dad for Father's Day and he told me that it would be the song he'd dance with me to at my wedding.

Exact same thing for me! I get tears in my eyes every time I hear it because I've always thought of it one day playing at my wedding.
We haven't decided for ourselves, but maybe one of the most unconventional was played at a friends wedding; GNR's Sweet Child of Mine. Not only was it an odd pick, but it's a long song and they played every minute of it. ugh.
[QUOTE]Denise I just heard "walk with you" and I couldn't stop crying! Thank you so much for posting about this song. I'm def giong to use.
