Do you LOVE your dress in person, but HATE the pic of it you found online?

I felt like 10 million bucks in my dress! COMPLETELY fell in love with it. Then ran home and googled it and thought "GAG!!!! Why the heck did they photograph it like that?!?" lol
It looks nothing like it does online!
Anyone with a similar experience? I was even embarrassed to show my friend the pics of it! haha

Casablance Couture Collection B011 (the skirt looks HUGE online...I think she's wearing a petticoat with it, which I definitely WON'T DO!)

  • I fell like a million bucks in my dress, I LOOK LIKE A MILLION BUCKS IN MY DRESS!!! And the promo pictures...  AWFUL.  I showed my mom the pictures and she had this "oh crap... is that really the dress you got?!" reaction... to which I had to respond "no
... I mean yes... I mean... you saw it, it looked great... didn't it?"  We both had this huge sigh of relief when we went pack to pick it up (and try it on again.)

  • Nope, I love my dress in the pics and when I tried it on. Of course the model is like a 0, but since that is unattainable for most normal people, I didn't let that bother me any.
  • Yes! My dress made my curves look great but the model pic made the dress look really plain jane.

  • YES! I had the same problem.  I had been googling red dresses for months, seen the pic of my now dress a ton of times, but it looked awful on the model (plus it had sleeves).  After ordering mine, I took the stock number home to goole some more and realized I picked out a dress in person that I hated online.

Crazy how those stick figures really alter the silhouette

  • I knew that I wanted to get my dress from one particuliar designer.  I spent months searching through all the designers photos before trying in dresses, and never considered mine.  I absolutely fell in love when I had it in, but I don't love the way it looks in pics. I too don't like showing people the pic online.

  • So glad to have read this post I felt and feel like many of you. I still haven't purchase my gown but I felt in love the way  dress fitted and looked as soon as I got home I googled it and I immediately started having second thoughts. SO I will make an appointment tomorrow and go try it on again because I think it is the one so I will give it shot :-)
  • I liked my dress online  , then i went to the store and fell in love with a completely different dress, i bought it went home...checked the receipt and it was the exact same dress....it just looked like a completely different dress.
  • I fell in love with the Watters dresses and seriously tried on every lace dress they had in the store.  The one I fell in love with looks like absolute crap on the website!  My sisters had seen it online after I bought it and when they saw it in person they couldn't believe it was the same dress.
  • I had the same thing happen, I don't like how it looks in the professional photo, I don't know if it's because mine's ivory and perhaps the dress in the photo is white? Not sure but it has a totally different feel in the photo, I like it better in person.

  • I never found an online photo of my dress. :(
  • Great post, BTW. This is why I always caution people to try on dresses to find the one instead of falling in love with a stock photo!
  • YES! My dress is absolutely perfect on me - I love love love it! It flatters all the parts of me that I hate - boobs, gut, height...so I looked online to see if I could find a picture. It's an Alfred Angelo R line dress, so there's not a "stock photo" apparently, but I found it on a girl's wedding blog and it did NOT look good on her - at all! She was teeny tiny and it looked completely different on her than it does on me. I was trying to show friends and they kept giving me strange looks lol. I eventually went back to the store and tried my dress on again, just to be sure I loved it - and I do!

  • I DESPISE my dress in the stock on line photo. AWFUL. It made me compeletely second guess my choice, and I am still totally apprehensive b/c its STILL not in yet, and I haven't seen it in person in 7 months! (and the weddnig is 74 days away) They don't even have it in a pic that is IVORY or white, they have it 2 -toned with champagne in the stock photo. But I found another bride about my size who let me see her photots from her big day and I feel a bit better...
I'll let you know if I change my mind again once it comes in.. (IF it ever comes in!!)

  • I tried my dress on before I looked at a picture of it.  When I actually looked through the catalogue to show my FMIL a picture of the dress, I couldn't find it.  It looked THAT different on the model.  I hated it.  I've tried avoiding the picture of the dress on the model, because every time I see it I have second thoughts about it.

  • Yes!! My dress has been at my planners house since I purchased it and I only have a couple pictures of me in it. So I decided to google it and EEK...it looked crappy on the model...so I was a mess for awhile. But I've seen the dress since then and I still love it. Tonights my first fitting so I get to see it again! LOL
