Personalizing BM gifts?

What are thoughts on getting/giving personalized items to your BMs?  I got my girls robes to wear the day of to get ready.  I was originally going to have them made by an Etsy vendor who would personalize them b/c I wanted to get them purple robes and couldn't find them anywhere, but lo and behold I was in Victoria's Secret last week and they had purple robes right there in the store!  There is a small shop near me that will do the embroidery if I choose, but now I'm not sure if that's lame or not.  What do you guys think about personalized items?

    I personally like monogrammed things with initials.  I think its cute and not something you'd typically buy yourself.  I like the kind where your last name initial is in between your first and middle initials, in like a script font.

    Love robe the idea too... I think I am going with that also!

    I like the look of that as well, but I have a few friends who got married recently but haven't legally changed their name yet and I'm not sure what their plan is.  I feel weird using their maiden name, but don't want to use their married name if they're not going to change it.  Even though I've asked my friends what they're doing about this, they don't seem to be in a rush to make a change.

    I got a robe as a bridesmaid gift and she just put the First Initial of our first names in script.  It is the only robe I wear now.  I love it.

    I think first initials would be best since some of them are between names. I think it is a nice touch!

    Agu - can you share some details about the robe?  I know you said purple and from VS but I don't see that on their site?  If you have a pic that'd be amazing and the price, if I'm not asking too much ;)  Did they have other colors too?  Thanks girl!

    I just read some of the responses.  Honestly thats the kind of stuff that makes me second guess ever posting anything that requires someones opinion.  People need to learn how to respond with a little class.  I would never bash someone's idea like that.  And for what it's worth, I love the idea :)
