    Our wedding date is August 12, 2011
    Not too far into planning yet, but I think my favorite part will be finding my dress and BM dresses (pretty sure I'm having fuschia)
    Sometimes it's frustrating being on the boards because people don't know you.  It would be more fun to be able to joke around with people and have them respond to things you say.  However, I have learned quite a few things about ettiquette, and gotten some good ideas for my wedding :)

    Favourite part about planning so far: I loved making our invites...right now we are planning the ceremony and music and I am loving it.
    How it feels to be new on this board: I was concerned about posting on here or on E but once I started I realized that my fears were unfounded. I did spend a lot of time lurking first and had an idea of what topics make people get riled up and which topics I had a different opinion on. I realized as long as I didn't post anything really dumb, I wouldn't get any crazy responses...

    Actually, something about kicking out a bridesmaid or having open bar might get more hits but then I would have to come up with an elaborate story.

    Last week my MOH called me to ask me if it was okay for her to miss the shower that my FI's aunt is throwing next Sunday because if she left for her week long caribbean holiday a day later it would cost about $400 less...I laughed because OBVIOUSLY I wanted her to save the $400 and would never make a fuss about her missing a shower (although I joked that she did have to show up for the one she is throwing in August). It made me smile because as I was trying to convince her that it was fine and that I wouldn't hold it against her for years to come, it made me think about posts I have seen on TK before by brides freaking out because a member of the WP couldn't make it to a shower, or a bachelorette, etc...

    (In the end she left on the Saturday, so she will be back by Sunday for the shower, I am happy she will be there!)

    Betrothed - those are some fucked up neighbors. I thought mine were awful because she dresses up like Michael Jackson, but after your story, I think I need to go bring her a lasagna or some shiit.

    The worst is the one about the little 4 year old boy. That is so sad. No little ones should be neglected like that. I kind of want to steal him and take care of him.

    We used to have a neighbor that had 3 kids. One of them was a 4 year old boy that was Ben's age. He would show up at our door at 9:00 at night, barefooted, and alone asking if Ben could come and play. I'll never understand how parents can just let their kids roam around all alone like that. There are just so many things that could happen.

    Matt and I wonder about that too. I just wonder if they are just oblivious to what could happen or if she just doesn't care. I know that I am on the hyper-vigilant end of the spectrum and I don't want to raise a sheltered little wimp, but good God, I just couldn't imagine not knowing exactly where he is.

    True story: We went to IHOP for breakfast this morning and on our way there, Ben is just sitting in the back being quiet and all of the sudden, he starts singing "I love potatoes. I love potatoooooeeeeesssss."
