Registry question

So, under some duress, I have agreed to put registry information on our website, at the bottom, with a very small note saying that we are registered at Macy's, with a link to their homepage.  FI thinks that we should link it directly to our registry page.  I get that this would make it easier for our guests to find, but I can't shake the feeling that it's a bit crass.

Thoughts?

Re: Registry question

  • I really don't think it matters in this case.  You can probably do either way.  I wouldn't side-eye it if it went directly to your registry though.

  • Yeah, I voted link it directly to your registry.  Less work for me.
  • I don't see a problem with linking it directly.

  • I'd link directly to it - it's just easier than expecting people to search for your registry on the Macy's site themselves.  Also, quite a few of my parents' friends would not be able to figure out that they were supposed to search the Macy's site themselves if I only linked to the homepage instead of the registry itself - they'd probably just call me or my mom and tell us the registry link was "broken."

  • If you are going to have a link make it as easy as possible for your guests.  So link it directly.

<div>I'm pretty sure that's what would happen in my family, too. Or they'd think you didn't know how to link something properly.</div>

[QUOTE]I linked mine directly to my registry.  I think if people want to find it by going through my wedding website, they are going to be somewhat annoyed at having to search for the registry.  And? <strong> I don't know about your guest list, but I definitely have some guests that are not exactly internet proficient, so I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them to find the registry</strong>, if they are so inclined to look at it. Plus, it's a registry link.  I don't think it's crass.

</div><div>This is very true. I didn't have a wedding website and a few friends searched for our registry online. We got a lot of calls because they couldn't find it. Linking it directly sounds like a good idea. As a guest, I would like it. </div>

Right?  My Godparents asked me, last year, if I was "on the email".  It turns out that they refer to EVERYTHING on the internet as "the email".

OK, I'll link right to it.    Thanks, The Ladies.

  • Haha I agree, especially based on the internet mishaps people can have. Just link directly to it!

It's not at all crass.  If I thought registries were crass I wouldn't be clicking on the registry link, let alone going to your website looking for registry info.
  • The Invitations are a bad place to put registry info...a wedding website is (as far as I have heard) the acceptable place to put registry information. I would link directly to the registry...otherwise why bother making it a link at all?

  • The link is going to be there, why not go directly to your registry?  It's why they would be clicking on it anyway.
