Stressed over Wedding Invites.....

I am soo stressed over wedding invites....I cant seem to find a wedding invite that I really really love and the ones i like are either way too expensive, because i cant see myself spending almost $300 on 100 invites that people will just throw away in the end or if I find invites that are ok priced I dont love love them... ugh what to do? Any suggestions???????????????

    We used www.weddingpaperdivas.com
I am totally with you ~ there was no way I was going to spend a ton in this area of the wedding....
We found ones we loved at weddingpaperdivas, and didn't spend a lot either!

Do not let yourself get stressed over this. Like you said, they're going to end up in the trash anyway, so pick something that is in your budget and still cute and just go with it. We used www.rexcraft.com and we got something very nice for not a lot of money.

You don't HAVE to "love love love" everything about your wedding. If stationery/invitations is not something that you said from the beginning, "I really have my heart set on them being a certain way!" then just concentrate on getting something decent that you can afford, and getting it crossed off your list.

We browsed on weddingpaperdivas.com and found a few we liked in our price range. We ordered two samples and disliked one but liked the second, so we ordered them. Boom, done, it took maybe two days' of deliberation. But we didn't care too much about invites or most other stationery (table numbers, menus, guestbook), so we just used what we could get easily or what was provided to us by the venue.

Place cards were a different story, since I had an idea in my head for months about what I wanted them to look like. I spent a couple weeks designing them until they were *just right* and I spent a few evenings cutting and gluing and cursing until I got exactly what I wanted, and I sent the hall a detailed instruction list on how I wanted them set up a certain way. (And then the limo dropped us off at the hall too late to see them all set up, and too late for the photographers to get a picture of the special setup I wanted. Figures.)

My point is, everything doesn't have to be perfect. It's silly to be stressed over paper (which will be garbage, or hopefully recycling, soon enough) if you don't have to be. If you didn't say from the getgo, "I really want great invitations," then just pick something and move on to your next checklist item. Conserve your energy and money for stuff that you DO care about a lot.

I spent $230 on invitations that I loved for 100 people.  Very classic.  Go to the "Budget-friendly" section of www.birchcraftinvitations.com and you will find many.  They came in 3 days!

I paid $50 for 100 invitations from Michaels...but they are DIY...they are pretty and look like any other invitation, other than the fact that I have to print them out myself...I used 40% off coupons and paid a little over 50 for them because I cannot justify spending a crazy amount on something that will be thrown out....They have so many nice DIY sets....you should look into it.

i got mine off of zazzle.com.  I had your attitute exactly. People are going to throw them away and not appreciate the ton of effort DIY invites take. I am more interested in putting my $ into something people will remember about the wedding (food, music, etc...). I ended up getting 125 invites, 125 rsvp cards, 50 rehearsal dinner invites, and 300 round stickers for invites and favors for about $260. Perfect for our price range, they are simple squares with damask print. Done and done.

My BFF went to Blue Tulip in Princeton to find invitations.  She  found the one she wanted (if she had ordered them there it would have cost about $2000) So she took the sample of them (well, she stole it out of the book, woops!) and took it to a high end printer in the Princeton area. He duplicated it EXACTLY, down to the paper, the color, the font.  Well, it ended up costing them $300  - that is including the RSVP cards -  and looked identical to the ones she originally wanted from Blue Tulip.  Just a tip to save some $$$!

I hear you with the stress! My colors are navy blue and fuchsia and I am having a hard time finding invites that I like or want to pay for in those colors. I am still a year out so I have some time. But I know your pain!

I agree, I do not want to nor do I plan to spend a bunch of money on invites. I found 3 that FI and I like from Invitations by Dawn and I am waiting for the samples to arrive. I'll let you know how they are when they get here.

We are using Jessica's Design shop http://jessicasdesignshop.blogspot.com/
She is on etsy as well.  My invitations should be ready within the next two weeks and I can't wait to get them!  Her work is beautiful and  prices were so reasonable...the response card, direction card and reception card were all included in the invitation price (per set)
