I can't wait to change my name so I don't have to deal with the awkwardness with applying for jobs... "legally it's X but call me Y." (I don't want to change it until we're done dealing with Visas... so in about a year).

    Sounds like you have a really good reason to wait.  I know it's frustrating but it will be worth it in the end!
