It's evening.

Re: It's evening.

  • I took a nap from like 5:30 to 7, so I anticipate being up late, unless I take something to sleep... which I might do, because I don't want to be up til all hours of the night, I get so bored. There's only so much laying around, not sleeping, that one can do.

  • Good night to all you taking off now.

Angel, I'll probably be here for a little longer.

<div>I agree. But I have adult swim - an hour of King of the Hill, an hour of American Dad, and an hour of Family Guy. </div>
  • I'm not that big on TV... it has to be something I really love watching for me to sit through it. I wish Criminal Minds was on demand! Although that would mean I'd have to leave my bed since I don't have digital cable in my room.
    imageWedding Countdown Ticker
  • Angel, I do the same thing.  It's gotten worse since I wasn't working for like 5 months while we moved and got married. And H's crazy school schedule has made it even worse.

I wake around 6 am, get out at 4:30 pm, nap from around 6 pm, then can't get back to sleep til after 2 am.  It got even more screwy when H was coming home at 4-5 am...I would nap from 8 pm-12 am, then wide awake til H got home, and then I had to be up in 1-2 hours.

I don't like this at all!

  • Well, I have it on mainly in the background while I Knot.
  • Okay - I've been reading this knitting tutorial and the people that wrote it are named Amy and Sheldon. I laughed so hard.
  • I think I'll get back to a normal schedule once I go back to my main job, but having 5 days off a week, it's hard to make myself follow a decent sleep schedule. Plus, I have low vitamin D levels right now, which I think is causing a lot of fatigue, which is why I sleep during the day.
    imageWedding Countdown Ticker
  • I'll go back to a normal sleep schedule when FI is here for the wedding. I also probably won't be knotting much - but I'll pop in as much as possible : )

    That's awesome. :)<div>
</div><div>I stayed up way too late last night, thinking it would be okay since I had today off. BF woke me up when he left for work, though, and then our neighbor started up the lawn mower. I'm surprised I'm not tired yet, but I am a night owl, so there is that.</div>
  • Poke - How long will he be here?

  • Yeah, I'm hoping to be in a normal routine while H is out of school for the summer. I hate that he can fall asleep with in seconds of his head hitting the pillow.  Not even exaggerating. It doesn't matter if he slept 3 hours the night before or 10. The boy can sleep.  I wish I could do the same.

Ugh, I hate people who can do that. It takes me forever to fall asleep... even on a good night where I'm really tired, I don't fall asleep right away. The only time I fall asleep pretty quickly is if I'm drowsy because I took some kind of medicine to sleep.

  • Angel - he gets here the 27th and his flight is currently scheduled to leave on June 23rd. If we get the visa before the 23rd or get notification that I will get it soon after, I think he'll push his flight back so we can go over together. I have no idea how long the visa will take. It sucks that I can't apply until after we're married.

That does suck. Hopefully it will come through fairly soon after the wedding! Even if it takes a few weeks or months, at least you know that is the last separation you'll have from him. Of course, that might make it feel even longer :/

  • Poke, I'm so jealous of your move to the UK.  London is my favorite city in the world. I would love to live there for a while.

I've always wanted to see London. It's super high on my bucket list.

Melatonin is the only thing that can get me to sleep at night. I'm usually PUMPED 'til past 1:00 in the morning, and that doesn't work very well with my work schedule.

I've never tried that. How quickly do you fall asleep after taking it? Does it make you feel groggy in the morning?

  • Tracy - I'm not really a city person, I would hate moving to actual London. But I am moving about an hour outside of London, so it's close enough for me to enjoy the perks of such a great city without the downfalls of living there lol. I'm guessing you have been - what was your favorite thing?

Angel - I'm praying it comes in ASAP. I think the thing that will suck the most is being married but still being alone like I have been for the majority of the past 7ish years. It's like, the newlywed phase is supposed to be so great, but I'll just be sitting at home like always. But like you said, it will be my last separation so that will make it better. I think I'll be a wreck anyways though, because I'm going to miss my family.
  • I wanna know about the Melatonin too.

  • Grr, it doesn't look like we have anything to help me sleep and I don't want to waste my anxiety medicine.. especially since I'm currently without health insurance, so it looks like I'll have to ride it out and wait til I'm tired... which will probably be at least another hour or two, if not longer.

Also, I miss FI. I haven't seen him since Sunday. I'm also tired of how stressed out we've both been because it's making us argue more.

Unfortunately not. I'm too low on funds right now and he's completely broke. I wish we could though, it's really much needed. We haven't ever gone away together by ourselves before... all we've done is go to our parents' shore houses with family.

  • H (then BF) and I went in February 2009, January 2010, and again for our honeymoon.  He proposed during the second trip, on New Years Day on Westminster Bridge.  We were back again one year to the day on our honeymoon. We didn't mean to plan it that way but we had to wait til the holiday break to go because of H's school schedule so it just worked out.

I love the city. I think you'd have to have lots of money to really enjoy living there though.

Angel & Tracy - you can find melatonin in the vitamin aisle at any drug store. Our bodies produce it naturally when it's bedtime, so it doesn't have any side effects or anything. I usually have weird dreams when I take it, though (apparently, this is common among people who use it).

It comes in 3mg doses. I usually take half; otherwise, I'm still a bit tired in the morning. I got some new stuff that's time-released, though, and I can take an entire tablet of that. I guess it just depends on the brand. It puts me to sleep within a half-hour. It's not instant since it isn't a sleeping pill, but it's much better since it's just helping your body do what it's supposed to do. It also helps you *stay* asleep.

Since it's natural, it's common for shift workers like firemen and police officers to take it when they need to adjust their sleep schedule.
