Stress, lip biting, and breakouts - maybe TMI

Between the school year starting back at the end of this month, working on credits to keep my teaching license active, working a summer job, and trying to plan this wedding.. stress is doing its share of things to me.

I'm a big lip biter and peeler. In the middle of listening to a professor today, I caught myself peeling my lips until they bled. I didn't even notice I was doing it until I tasted the blood.

Then I noticed I'm breaking out more than I ever have in my life. I'm breaking out a little on my forhead, but it's mostly on my chest and upper back. I've been trying to use Neutrogena body wash and it seems to be helping a little, but does anyone have suggestions?

I don't want to have bloody lips and the breakout of a 15 yr old on my wedding day. What can I do now to help get it all cleared up?

Does anyone else have these things going on? Maybe biting your nails or something?

You could do this and act like it was on purpose.  It's a good look for school too.

Seriously though, my skin is breaking out too.  And I am no where near 15.  I've struggled with it forever on and off.  I've tried masks, peels, oral medication, etc.  I don't think I've really found anything magical for me.  If I am breaking out, I'll use a little clay type mask to dry them out a little.  That seems to help.

    ACK!  That pic is NASTY!
For breakouts I love proactive.  If you get dry skin just use once a day instead of twice.  No help on the lips issue though- I guess keep looking at that pic?  I pic my nails so I understand, it's hard!

I swear by this stuff.  It works great.  It is pricey if you are buying a regular size bottle but if you use Estee Lauder, you can usually get it as part of a freeby.  It takes care of break outs, cuts, blemishes, about anything.  Tried and true for more years than I want to remember.

I had a lot of trouble with my lips peeling and once they'd start, I'd make it worse.  I started using an all day lip stain and the clear moisturizer that goes with it.  I also use soft lips before I go to bed and I don't have any problems now.  You have plenty of time to find something that works. :)

mpar- I'm sure my students will think that is a great look for me! hahaha That pic is so traumatizing, maybe I just need to keep staring at it until I stop. haha

ldybug - a friend of mine used proactive, but she said as soon as she stopped using it, she broke out even worse than when she started using it. Have you had any problems with this at all?

Boo and Teach - I'm gonna have to try those ideas. Thanks :)

I am a lip biter too and you just have to stop yourself from doing it honestly.  I know it's hard too b/c it's my "nervous tic" kind of thing, but when I catch myself doing it, I just have to stop.  Brent is always getting on me about it too so have FI help you out with this one if he notices you doing it.

No, I didn't have problems with it after I stopped using it.  I did get really broke out at first but it didn't last.

omg Maria that pic made me gag hahaha...

I'm not a lip biter/peeler, but I always put vasaline on them at night before bed and it works wonders. Just don't use it if you sleep on your face bc your pillow will be sticky.

I myself am the WORST nail biter AND picker I know. I've done it forever and can't stop. That's gonna be my thing to deal with this year...

DH always bit his nails too.  I ordered him the clear polish that tastes bad and he was able to quit.  He stopped using it after the wedding and is now biting again, but I guess it served its purpose. :)

Maybe if I found something like that for my lips I'd be in good shape. Do they make bad tasting stuff for lips?
