Neon Express & Ceremony music question

Anyone that's married used Neon Express or are you planning to?  I've seen them mentioned here a couple times and they have pretty good prices.  Our Wedding isn't until Sept. of 2011 but they've already informed me that they have two dates in that month already booked.  Crazy Crazy.  So if we want them we need to make the decision soon and DJs are not something I've really looked into.  Vendors wouldn't tell people they are booked around their date just to get them to send a deposit would they?  It's a $50 non-refundable deposit.

Also, is it cheesy to not have someone play the piano while the wedding party and bride are walking down the aisle?  We are not getting married in a church, Landmark Center, and we will be playing a Dave Matthews song during the unity candle lighting and we have another picked out for when we exit.  Most weddings I've been to have been in a chuch and most have someone playing the piano.  I've been to a couple outside though that couldn't have had a piano I don't think (bad memory here).

Who's having a piano and who is having music just played?

It seems crazy to me that people are already booking DJs for September 2011.  However, if you really like Neon Express, it might be good to book.  They're a small operation, so they only book a couple weddings per date.  If you're open to other DJ services, you have plenty of time.  The larger operations have tons of DJs and don't fill up until closer to the day of.

We booked Neon Express for our August 2010 wedding because we liked the price and liked knowing who we were booking.  If you decide to book with a larger operation, you won't know the actual DJ until a week or two before the wedding.

As for music, I definitely don't think you need a piano.  We're hiring violinists for our ceremony.  If live music wasn't in the budget, I would have been fine with recorded music.

I don't think they are trying to get you to do a deposit. When we were looking for our reception venue a year and a half ahead of time of time, June was already booked up except for Fridays and Sundays so we chose a Sunday (not the only reason). September is a really busy wedding month now and Neon Express is a vendor that gets great reviews AND they are cheap, so I'm sure they are booking up fast. I would go with them, we are!

And no, I don't think it will be "corny" to not have a pianist at the ceremony, I've gone to weddings like that and I liked the music selection. Also, I'm walking down the aisle to Big and Rich "Lost in this Moment" but I don't know if it will be recorded or somoene singing it... HTH!

I can verify they have at least one date booked in 09/2011....it's mine! I've been engaged since April 2009, though, so I have had plenty of time to look into all my options. They so far have been really great to work with, though! Super fast with responses and very patient and attentative to all my questions, even as far out as I was booking (the end of last year)

heatherwu, that's funny -- I booked them for our wedding too! Same day at yours :)

I went to a wedding at the Landmark Center this past November, and they had recorded music as the bride walked down the aisle... I thought it sounded fine--they had a soloist and a piano sing/play during the ceremony too. I don't think the recorded music during the ceremony--especially the processional--is cheesy. Nobody will be paying much attention anyway; they'll be clapping for you and watching you walk down the aisle as a married couple and all.

By the way, I'm going with Neon Express as well--except I'm only using them for my reception. Ceremony venue takes care of the sound already, so I didn't need them for that part.

I can also verify that they have "a couple" dates booked in September 2011 because I also have them booked for 9/2011! lol.

My fiance and I were originally going to be married this May, but due to finances we post-poned until September 2011, and since we had already booked them for our May date and we had been very impressed with them, we asked if they would move our deposit to our new date, and they did, which makes me even more impressed with them! They will most likely be getting a very nice tip for their awesome flexibility. I highly recommend. :)

Also, we are using them for both ceremony and reception, just because we can save a lot of money that way, and it would probably be a *bit* difficult to tote a piano down the steep hill to my ceremony location, haha. I say go for it.

Aweome, thanks ladies!  That's all I needed to hear and am def. going to book.  They have GREAT prices and I'll I've heard are good things.  It's nice to catch good deals even though it's so far ahead of time.  I haven't gone to visit any vendors yet, looked at dresses etc., just researching prices and what not.  But when I see a good deal I feel like I need to grab it.  However, it is a little scary to book things so far in advance, but hey it makes it easy to be decisive about certain vendors.

Anywho - Veijes-love that idea and love that song. I thought about walking down to a different song than the norm too.  Way back when I was at a wedding that had "You Had Me From Hello" and ever since I always wanted that song for when I got married.  I wonder if it's too long though, almost 4 minutes.  Is your wedding party going to walk down to part of your song or just you?  Words make more sense for just you, but then are you just going to be standing there waiting for the song to get done?  I personally like weddings that have more mainstream music in their ceremonies.  DMB is our fave and the songs have great meaning to us so I'm really excited for those ones.

Thanks for the input ladies and woo hoo to Sept. 2011 weddings!:)

I'm going to have the wedding party walk down to something else, haven't figured that out yet but probably just the piano playing something, like Canon D.

Then if we have someone sing it and play it on the piano, it will only be the chorus. I've timed it out and it's a little under 30 seconds so I'm sure that will be just the right amount of time, plus I think lyrics are the perfect words to watch down the aisle to. Here are the lyrics for fun :)

"Lost in this moment with you
I am completely consumed, by feeling so absolute there's no doubt
sealing our love with a kiss, waited my whole life for this
Watching all my dreams come true, lost in this moment with you" <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

Ok, you are making me want to steal your song, ahem or lets say copy it instead:)  It's a great song and will be so memorable for you to walk down to, how exciting!:)  FI is not a Country fan at all, nor are we religious really, not that it's a totally religious song but it has some of that to it.  Which is totally fine and good obviously, but point being is he really likes that song when normally that's not his kind of music.

But maybe I could just do my song, here's my lyrics:

One word, that's all you said
Somethin' in your voice caused me to turn my head.
    Your smile, just captured me
And you were in my future as far as I could see
And I don't know how it happened, but it happened still
You asked me if I love you, if I always will

Well you had me from "Hello"
I felt love start to grow
The moment that I looked into your eyes
It was over from the start
    You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had a chance you know
    You had me from "Hello"

Maybe too long though, hmm.  Yours is pretty perfect though, good choice!

Just listened to my song on Youtube, yep it still seems perfect.  The lyrics I posted add up to 1:36, but I wouldn't have to start walking down with my Dad right at the beginning.

Awe, these are the Moments, no pun intended:), that are importand and make me excided to be my FI's wife.  Can't wait to walk down to him, even though I'll be nervous as he*l I'm sure;)
