My cat WILL NOT take her medicine.

Its a liquid in an eye-dropper.  I can't catch her enough to get it into her mouth. Last time I tried, it ended up all over the table.  The most she consumed was what she licked off her fur.

The vet suggested putting it in milk (the medicine is white, so it blends in) and letting her just drink it.  I tried that, but I guess she tasted the medicine and now won't go anywhere near it.

Any other suggestions?

Wrap her in a towel, hold her bundled form in your legs, force her mouth open and dropper it into her throat. Then give her a treat so she doesn't sharpen her claws on your couch.

Wet food?  Also, does your cat already drink milk-if not, maybe she just doesn't like milk and you can put it in her water?

I dunno, that's tricky.  Good luck!

I agree with hetshup.....then put the dropper on the inside of her mouth, outside of her gums, once you get it all the way back, squeeze to let the medicine go in....she will have to swallow.

This also works for pigs, if you ever need to know. It's just a bigger straddle to hold the buggers down. And "wrap her" makes it sound a little too easy. It's more of a ninja/stealth technique. Wait for her to walk by, drop the towel from up high and while she's confused, JUMP ON HER! Well sort of. You get the idea. At least she smells better than a pig...

    LOL Paint!

The towel thing works okay, but I HATE forcing my cats to do anything.

Have you tried wet food? Mine will eat ANYTHING in wet food.

Also, a little bit of tuna is okay (if wet food fails). You shouldn't feed her tuna all the time, but if it's a one or two-dose thing you could certainly give her a small spoonful of tuna with her medicine.

A spoonful of tuna helps the medicine go down!

I've done the towel thing, since my mom's cat is about as picky as a three-year-old and will snub his food for any old reason (even if it's the same kind he ate two days ago).

Like paint said, you need to do a sneak attack. Towels or thicker blankets work best. Make a kitty burrito.

MMMMmmmm kitty burrito! I'm actually a bastard and pick the cat up while they are sleeping and wrap  them before they know what's happening.

The towel thing followed by a treat usually seems to work best. Cats never seem to like to take medicine, so, ya. Good luck!
He pretty much had me at "hello".

Its funny you said that about the pigs, Paint.. because when I called my dad to ask him what he thought, he told me to grab her and hold her between my knees, because "thats how you do it with a baby cow."

She did like the milk, she took to it right away, but then she tasted the medicine, made a disgusted face and won't go near it again.

Pfft, stupid vet. Just because it LOOKS like milk, doesn't mean it TASTES like milk! This is a CAT we're talking about. Pshh.

I don't know how you feel about scruffing her but if you scruff her with your left hand (or right hand) and keep her spine along your forearm you she won't be able to get away and you can give her the medicine (this is exactly what they do at the vet when a cat wont cooperate). But I grew up with cows sheep goats and pigs so things are done a bit differently and maybe more aggressively than your typical pets and forcing a calf to do something doesn't usually end up drawing blood like your cat can :)

I think cats are a bit more agile than most farm animals, too.

I'm a kitty burrito fan, but our cat gets baths (he's the hairless thing in my pic below) so he's pretty used to getting wrapped up in a towel.  I'd try the tuna first, it works like magic with our guy!  If you go the burrito route just make sure you REALLY warped her tightly.

Lol, aperista!  Mr Mewton actually loved his costume, and was very proud wearing it!  Watching him march around in it made it SO much funnier, and when he chased our friends' Boston Terrier around their living room... oh man, I thought we were all gonna die laughing!  The dog couldn't figure out wtf was after him, and Mr Mewton thought he was so friggin' tough after that!
