Venue Searching

Hey All-
I am on the search for a wedding venue (both ceremony and reception, preferably in the same location) in Maine. I feel like I have searched everything under the sun and find the same spots over and over again, which are beautiful but simply too expensive. Now we are starting to feel a little discouraged. My fiance and I are looking to spend roughly $10,000 on our ceremony and reception including catering (which seems to be expensive everywhere we look). I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!! :)

Re: Venue Searching

  • What part of the state are you looking for and how many guests?
  • We arent too picky on where in Maine, just preferable not more north than Bangor. We are planning on 150-200 guests.
  • I would suggest the Bethel Inn Resort. They have good pricing and have the space to fit 200 guests. They do the food themselves, so it wouldn't work if you wanted to hire a caterer but I think that they are still a good option for all inclusive packages. I wrote a blog post about the inn that gives some price detailing. Good luck!

  • Seasons Event and Conference Center in Portland would definitely work with your budget.  You can have both the ceremony and reception there and their event coordinator is amazing!  I spent about $4000 for 85 people, and that included paying for some alcohol and linens.

  • Poland Spring Resort in Poland Maine.  I am getting married there in October.  You can have 1-200 Guests for the same price.  Catering is included as well as a D.J. if you want to use their D.J. and you get a 100 dollar flower credit.  They also supply vases and the china if you wish.  You can choose to have the ceremony at the gazebo on site, over looking the golf course or in the on site church which is beautiful.  If you choose the gazebo the church is saved for a back up in case of poor weather.  The reception is just a couple steps away from the ceremony, and there is plenty of parking.  Two nights at their hotel is also included, the night before the wedding and the night of.  Cyndi is the one that runs it andd is wonderful to work with.  For the rehersal, there are 3 options close by for the dinner and Cyndi will help with that too.  Here is their website.... we are very glad we chose Poland Spring   http://www.polandspringinns.com/weddings.html

in Belgrade.  They are new and only take 2 reservations each summer.

  • Since your screen name matches the venue name, I'm guessing your really a vendor.
