who pays for the hotel for OOT guests?

Do the bride and groom (we are paying for our own wedding) pay for the hotel rooms for OOT guests, or do we just send them a list of hotels in the area, and let them take care of it?  Hotel rooms are expensive, and on a tight budget we would love to be able to pay for the hotel rooms, but aren't really able to.  If it comes down to us having to pay, unfortunately the OOT guests prob. won't be getting invitations.

  • OOT guests pay for their own accommodations.  It is nice if you block some rooms at a hotel to get a discount rate and to prevent the hotels from selling out before your guests are able to book.

  • You aren't expected to pay for anyone's hotel but your own.  You can set aside a block of rooms at a nearby hotel and try to get a discounted rate, and then the guests would make their reservations under your room block.  You could just give them the names and info for the nearest hotels.  Either way, they pay, not you.

Yep, that. Try and find nice places in different price ranges. And by "nice"- I mean clean, comfortable safe 2-3 star and up.
  • I've always paid for my own hotel when traveling out of town for a wedding. Hotels can generally give you a discounted price if you block out a certain number of rooms.
  • Call the hotel and reserve a block (this is free...if they try to charge you or set a minimum number of rooms which "have" to be filled, then call a different hotel).

It's no cost to you, it will get a group-discount rate for your guests, and is fairly easy!

When the guests call in to make their reservations, then they pay for their own rooms.
