Venue: Manufacturer’s Golf & CC (A++)Where do I begin in my raving about this place? From the first day we took a tour, we knew we had to have our wedding there. It perfectly suited our style and what we wanted for our wedding day. Linda, our banquet manager, was extremely willing to work with us to create a package that fit our budget. From the very beginning, she was extremely responsive to every little question that came up along the way, and she really made me feel at ease about everything. The food was excellent and received rave reviews from all of our guests. The grounds are beautiful at the CC and make for fabulous outdoor pictures. We would recommend this place to anyone getting married and plan to hold all of our future events at Manufacturer’s (with Linda).Photographer: Denise Mabilog (A+)Denise is one of the nicest, warmest people I have ever met. When Joe and I met with her at our home, we immediately clicked with her personality-wise and loved her style of photography. Her pricing was actually a little higher than we originally intended to spend, but we knew we had to fit her in (and are so glad we did!) She worked with us to create a package that suited our needs (and our budget). We did an engagement session and were overwhelmed by the beauty and artistry of her shots. The pictures from our wedding day were above and beyond our expectations and we had a terribly difficult time choosing which to use in our album (To date, we have not yet received our album, but we know that it will be absolutely perfect).Florist: Whimsical Welcomes (A)Leslie is a very unique florist. She creates arrangements that are different than what you would see at a your average wedding florist. We had a preliminary consultation with Leslie where she made up a few sample pieces, based on a short questionnaire we had completed. The pieces that she showed us during this first visit were absolutely perfect for us. It was like she had known us for years and knew the vision I had for our wedding. If I were to have one criticism, it would be about communication. When I asked about changing or adding something, I felt as though I were becoming a burden (regarding extra drop-offs and timing issues.)DJ: Bucky Scott, Scott Entertainment (A)Bucky was a joy to have around at our wedding reception. We gave him a few simple requests of songs to play and not to play. He stuck by this and even inconspicuously asked me a few times about whether a certain song would be okay to play. Aside from the songs we requested, the music he played was right on key at each part of the night. Everyone was up dancing and he played the perfect mix of slow/fast songs. In his “emcee” role, his smile and friendly demeanor were infectious. And he knew when to get on the mic and say something and when to let it be. I would highly recommend him for any special event.Transportation: Brenner Coach & Limousine (A)I had never heard of this company (based out of Warminster) and my Dad took care of all the booking. He found them to be the best-priced limo bus that he could find. From what I understand, the communication process went smoothly and they were very professional. On the day of our wedding, our limo driver was very friendly and very accommodating. It poured rain on the way to the reception and he was eager to help shuttle us in and out of the bus with his oversized golf umbrella. All of the pick-ups were on time and we had no issues, whatsoever.Bakery: H.F. Hornberger Bakery (A)We weren’t looking to spend a ton of money on our wedding cake. It just wasn’t one of our top priorities… We wanted something simple that tasted good. We chose this place (Bensalem, PA) because several members of my family have used their cakes for special events through the years and have always been pleased. We ordered a simple 4-tier cake with 4 different flavored pound cake layers. Kim was great to work with and knew exactly what we wanted. The cake turned out exactly as we described and tasted great!Dress: David’s Bridal (Feasterville) (B+)I found my dress pretty early on in our engagement. I didn’t think I would find anything at David’s Bridal because I have always thought of them as being the “Walmart” of weddings. I went and tried a few on to please my mom. The third dress I tried on was the one. I fell in love with it (and also the price tag). My consultant, Marie, was very helpful and nice to work with. My one issue with David’s has to be that they were always crowded and each time I went in there (picking up my dress, alterations, etc), I felt rushed and I didn’t really get that warm & fuzzy feeling because of it. All-in-all though, I got a beautiful dress at a great price. So I would still recommend them for wedding gowns…BM Dresses: David’s Bridal (Feasterville) (B-)We had some issues with our BM dresses. We decided to get them at David’s because the girls got a discount since I bought my gown there. I also liked that they had such a wide selection of styles and sizes. When it came time to ordering the dresses, they ordered the wrong dress for 2 of my BMs the first time around. They also had the wrong style # in their system for another BM, but this was corrected before the order was placed. My sister (MOH) had a couple of bad experiences with employees in the store being a little unpleasant as well. The dresses were very nice, though. I loved the style & color, and everything came together really well.HM: Couples Tower Isle (A++)We LOVED this place!! We are already talking about when we can get there again… It was everything we hoped for and more. First of all, Jamaica is beautiful – paradise, really. And the employees at this resort are the nicest people I have ever met. They walk around smiling and singing and are ready to run and get you anything your heart desires. The décor was very Old Hollywood and DH and I loved the overall style. The beach was small, but intimate and the place never felt crowded. We were amazed at everything that was included in the price (DH even went SCUBA diving and didn’t have to pay anything extra). The food at each restaurant was excellent and we never had a meal we didn’t love. I would recommend this place for a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or any time you want to get away and escape with your someone special.Travel Agent: My Island Getaways (B)Nancy was very helpful in booking our HM. She recommended the Couples properties in Jamaica and she is a top booking agent with their brand. We appreciated all the pictures she sent and information she provided during our decision-making process. One thing that was frustrating though, was that she pressured us a little to book early (about 9 months early) to save money. We booked our trip and then found that the price of the flights dropped significantly about a week later, and stayed at that lower price for several months. We learned that lesson for the future – to hold out a little longer when booking flights so far in advance). I had hoped, as the expert, she would have had this wisdom for us in the first place. She requested the best room available for us and we did have a great room with an ocean view. I am not convinced, though, that this is any different than what we would have gotten if we booked ourselves. One part of her services that was invaluable was her “tips and tricks”. She sent over sheets of things to do and not to do, along with travel information for Jamaica. We liked having this information and if nothing else, this alone made it worth booking through a travel agent. Plus we didn’t have to pay any additional fees, so I guess we really didn’t lose anything...
