Sandals (vent)

So I started to try and go through TAs to see if they could give me any other options than what I have found.

However...the only thing I keep getting offered is Sandals.

Seriously...I know that they make it a profit (even bigger) if I go to Sandals or anywhere...but ...

Really? Come on...Sandals is not the ONLY resort in Jamaica. There are others....maybe not as big and maybe won't make you much of a profit, but you can offer those too.

Vent over.

Re: Sandals (vent)

  • a$$faces!

Sorry, Im no help....we are cruising to Jamaica
  • that sucks.... I know TONS of ladies on here that are getting married in Jamaica and I don't think the majority of them are Sandal Brides. Are you specifically looking for an AI and adult only?

I saw a former knottie (not sure her name now)  got married at Tensing Pen... I seriously thought about canceling my wedding and going there cuz it was breathe taking!

  • I am a Jamaica Sandals Bride but there are several other all inclusive resorts there. Breezes and Couples come right to mind without even thinking hard. I would think a TA would give you all your options. We picked Sandals for certain reasons not because it was the only option given to us. Do you need a new TA? Good luck honey!
  • There's nothing wrong with Sandals...truly.

I have researched Couples through and through and I'm still stuck. I keep hearing good things and bad things about both resorts (Sandals and Couples). We are both really picky and I just don't want to make the wrong decision.

and I'm not sure how to e-mail my TA and ask her to show me different places...I don't want her to seem like we're not interested in Sandals...but they aren't my first choice; course, I don't know what is.

I'm beginning to think I just need to book it myself and just go from there and deal without a TA.

  • Though I'm a Sandals bride, there are so many other awesome options!  Now I loved our choice for many reasons, and I looked into nearly every resort (AI or not) & every boutique hotel in Negril (I KNEW Negril was our wedding spot though!  We did honeymoon in Ochi though...it was nice, it was near a lot of excursions that we wanted to do, but Negril has won our hearts!).

What I love about Couples Resorts are the extra inclusions like the sunset catamaran cruise is included at most of their resort locations.  Sandals had all of the other water sports included, but not that...which I love me a sunset cruise on the Caribbean (so we paid to go on one)!

Other little details that I noticed when going through resort/ hotel options that you might want to check into when choosing a resort in Jamaica are:
    * how far from the airport (Negril is over an hour drive and Ochi is longer...and there are awesome places in between.  I didn't think that the drive to Negril was bad at all...some people disagree...but I loved seeing their culture!)

    * do they offer A/C...or have TVs  (was important to a lot of our guests and I learned that quite a few hotels do not have A/C, they have "powerful fans")

    * do they have a pool (might be important to some)

    * is the resort on the beach/ cliffs or are they across the street OR do they have rooms on both sides of the street (that was important to me...I wanted to be on the beach!)

    * AI or not AI (we like to drink...AI was a must for our party)

    * are the grounds huge or quaint (we didn't want anything too big, but didn't want anything too small either)

    * will the resort file paperwork for you, are basic weddings included, etc. (important to me)

    * and of course, the price (some boutique hotels cost as much as our stay at Sandals)

And I just thought that I would list a few of these because sometimes these are things that are listed in "small print" or I had to find out via researching sites like Trip Advisor.

Good luck!  And sorry this is a lengthy reply to your dilemma...it's just that I've been there...done that!

  • I was in the same boat as you! I've been to a Couples resort and honestly.. It was the BEST vacation I've ever been on! I'm going back to a Couples resort for our honeymoon.. but we wanted something more "special" ... I wanted that "bride" feeling instead of having to share it with 5 other brides that day!

After hours of searching, I came across Iberostar Grand Rose Hall ... there's only 1 wedding a day and it's also AI and adults only! The IGRH also has 2 "sister" hotels next door *that your guests can stay at for cheaper, yet they'll have to pay a visitor fee* that allow children! After finding that, I started looking more into it and we absolutely can't wait! My ONLY problem with the resort, is my guests might think it's a little pricey... but now I know if they feel that way.. they can stay at the sister resorts :)

Maybe you could check out those and see if they're in your taste :)

Good luck hunting and I hope you find your dream resort ;)
