TGIF

Woohoo! Finally Friday :)
I have a pretty slow day at work, other than a meeting from 1-4. Seriously, who schedules meetings the whole Friday afternoon? bah.

Anything exciting going on this weekend? H and I are proctoring the PRAXIS again (yay money!) and I'm going to the college hockey games with my sister.

Morning, Steph! Friday meetings suck. I have one next Friday that will take hours and I was planning in staying home and waiting for a delivery. Guess I'll have to presign. Boo. Nothing exciting for me today. I'll be sitting around the house rocking three day hair ha.

How are you doing, Shay?? Can you SEEEE??

Rhon- PRAXIS is the certification (or one of) standardized test for teachers here in MN.  The college where H works runs them, and we proctor them like once/month.  (You know, the people who go read the directions and then ignore the testers for two hours? ha) So basically we each get paid $150 bucks to read for a few hours.

Today's my last day of work and then it's a week off for March Break! Pretty excited about that...and about getting our house sold asap.

Steph...what does PRAXIS test? Is it for all teachers (k-12?) We don't have anything like that here so I am intrigued. Does each state have its own requirements for teaching (as in education)? Each province here does but I feel like for the most part they are on par (in Ontario we need a BA + BEd...so at least 4, but usually 5 years of university).

TGIF is right! My Fi got home yesterday so I'm excited for the weekend, but today is driving me crazy! I have a student at 9, and then another that was supposed to let me know by Wednesday if we were meeting at 11. Needless to say, he didn't so now I'll have to sit around like a bump on a log for more than an hour to make sure he isn't expecting to meet with me. Grrr... Then I have to run up to one of our casinos to pick up Fi's anniversary gift, and hope to make it home by 2... I should be able to, but lot's of running around and petty aggravations. ETA: Steph! How did you get that gig? I want that job! It isn't through ETS is it?

I can see and it's freaking amazing! My doctor told me at my follow up yesterday that I'm now at 20/20. I have worn glasses (then contacts) since third grade so this is just amazing. H wants it done this summer now ha ha.

Well, I just paid off the end of my line of credit which brings us one step closer to paying the whole shitload off and is on line with my goals for the year. Im pretty freaking stoked to have that done cause now we can shuttle even more money towards adams mastercard which has the highest interest rate. Its a good morning.

Not much planned for this weekend, id like to go for a run outside cause its supposed to be super warm again, maybe tinker in the garden (gotta get it ready to plant grass) and just veg. Nothing huge!

Way to go Nebb! you're having an awesome week by the sounds of it!
Numbers, idk if it's the same state to state, but here you take two PRAXIS tests. PRAXIS 1 is the same for everyone and it tests your general knowledge in all areas (kinda like the ACT or SAT).  PRAXIS 2 is subject specific so you can prove you actually know your subject well enough to teach it.

I'm up later than normal today. I skipped my workout this morning because I got home so late last night.  One of FI's cousins who lives near here invited me to go see Mary Poppins last night (they're touring and ended up at our PAC in town).  It was PHENOMENAL. I had shivers the whole time. I'm so glad I went! It was great to get my mind of stuff.

Tomorrow two of my teenage cousins are coming to visit for the day and have a girls day.  I'm really looking forward to it! We rarely get to spend time together just us because it's always during our huge family gatherings where we make sure to talk to all the aunts/uncles/cousins.

    Morning!

Today is a typical day.  I'm developing my experiment I started yesterday so fingers crossed that it ended up working!  You can never really tell until the develoing step whether something went awry the day before.

I'm getting a bit stir crazy nursing this foot injury.  It's pretty much healed so I'm hoping to hop over to Marathon Sports this weekend for some new shoes so I can start to train again.  FIs family is coming over to our apartment tomorrow to celebrate his mom's bday and we are watching DBs little twin for a week :)  Also, we are planning on registering at BBB Sunday.  I just want to get all of the registry stuff out of the way well ahead of time.

Number- I'm not steph but I had to take all the praxis tests. There are 4 or 5 a college student has to pass to teach elementary. There are specialized tests for other areas: each subject in middle school, each subject in high school, PE, guidance, art, special education etc.

    Good morning and TGIF fosho!

I'm planning on having a pretty chill weekend. I need to get some cleaning and laundry done, and lot of napping. Michaels brother called yesterday to tell Michael that they are also expecting a baby, and we're pretty much at the exact same point. So tomorrow I think they're going to go fishing and be all dudelike and be proud that they made babies. It's their first, too, so they're super excited.

I am in a foul mood this morning. I didn't sleep well last night and I am irritated with FH. it's not over anything big or important, but I am irritated anyway.

I may leave work early today for some mental health time. The next 6 weeks will be busy for me but I don't have anything pressing that has to be handled today.

This weekend I am probably going to macy's to register for the items I actually want to be able to see up close. I'll also try and get sized so that I can order my band from Etsy next week. I am so in love with the ring that I know i'll be incredibly impatient waiting for it to come in.

Good morning. I have nothing exciting to report. I am just hoping this day goes quickly. I woke up with a headache and I hope it doesn't turn into a migraine. I don't want to deal with that today.

Okay, I get it...we don't have anything like that here...no tests to become a teacher, as long as you get your B.Ed. you're good. It's really hard to get accepted to a B.Ed. though, there aren't many spots and your grades have to be fairly good (although I guess it depends what your definition of good grades is). And our system is split into groupings, you either apply for K-6, 4 - 10 or  7-12...each grouping has its own set of requirements for admission. Once you are in you can certify in a different group though (so now I am certified 4 - 12, but I have never officially taught anything higher than 8 and I have taught lower than 4!)

    Morning all!

Nebb, way to go!  I remember how awesome I felt when I paid off my line of credit.

I'm looking forward to this weekend.  Tonight I'm making Derek come shopping with me to find a dress for my shower on Sunday.  I hate shopping by myself, and he's pretty good at picking things out that will look good on me.

Tomorrow I'm getting together with my girlfriends from university and I'm super excited.

Sunday, presents!!! Ha.  I mean, family visiting to celebrate my impending spawn!!

    TGIF! Woo hoo!

I also need a job doing something like proctoring exams! I keep thinking about going back into retail for like 2 weekends a month but for some reason I never follow through with bringing back my application.

Working, also have a meeting today until about 2:30.Then FI and I are cleaning up the house and filing our taxes. Hopefully going to bed early so I can get up and run a 5K tomorrow. I used to run all the time. I haven't run more than 1 mile since gosh knows when. I'm expecting to be sore Saturday.

    ETA: choppy sentences much? bah.

I've never taken the PRAXIS tests, so I'm not totally sure ;) The instructions are basically teh same for all of them, but I know there are a shitton of different tests. (I've had 9 different ones in one session before.) I think there are general ones (like K-6, 7-12?) and then there are knowledge-specific ones too. There are ones for Math, Elem Ed, SpecEd, etc.  There are also ones for Speech Language, like PP said.

cornflake- yup! It's through ETS.  H has done them since he's worked at the college (his boss runs the whole thing) and I got pulled in when they were super busy a few summers ago.  Now the sesions are way smaller since MN is switching to a new test, so there's usually only 6-8 proctors. (Thus us getting 9-12 different tests in each room.)

    Good Morning!  Happy Friday everyone!

I'm so excited for this weekend.  We're supposed to get beautiful 50-60F weather starting today.  I coulde be proven wrong later but a part of me has hope that this IS spring instead of a tease.

I want to spend the whole weekend outside.

Anna, I'm jealous of your weather!  It's starting to be more mild here, even though I have to say, we haven't had much of a winter.

DJ, please tell us if you have anymore interview gems, and by gems I mean hilarious stories :)

It's bizarre.  We've only had 13 inches of snow total for the whole winter.  Our usual is more in the 50 inch range.

    Morning, everyone!

Holy shitty commute into work. Sunshine at my house, but the roads were so icy that the police shut down access to part of the highway in one direction. I saw about a dozen cars in the ditch on the way into work. And then, BAM! Sunshine. What a weird morning.

I'm glad your LASIK went well, Shay! It must be so exciting to be able to just see.

Good morning! I am with Celtic and in a foul mood as well... probably because I don't get a day off until Monday, wah!

Nebb that is so awesome. Isn't great just to have one less thing to worry about/keep track of?  I just paid off a small student loan I had to take right at the end of grad school to basically pay my rent. It was like $6k so it was bugging me so much that it wasn't gone. For the past few months I have just been throwing money at it and I feel so much better just to have killed it.

Well that was an interesting drive in to work. Hit three patches of total whiteout conditions and then 2 of sunshine. It was stop and start most of the way and it was super weak. Found out 2 of my coworkers cars got broken into lastnight (they live near eachother). What a day so far.

Sounds like good things for everyone this week.  I'm glad to hear it.  I've been ridiculously busy and don't see that changing until mid-May.  Work has exploded and my classes are starting to be an even heavier load, plus I have to start studying for exams and writing a final paper that'll be due in May.  So I'm stressed out!

I'm going to visit my brother and his girlfriend this weekend.  I can't wait to leave.

Can I bitch for a minute?  I'm dog/house sitting for a friend this weekend (or really, from this past Wednesday until Sunday) while she and her H are at a conference.  I get that they have twin 4 year olds (who went with them), and that they both work full time and had house guests Monday/Tuesday night (who flew in to meet them and carpool to the conference), including a deaf-blind person who needed a lot of assistance.  So things were pretty crazy for them this week.

But, the house is a WRECK. Really, really bad. It's making me crazy.  I don't expect it to be sterile clean or anything, but if I had someone staying at my house to watch my dogs for 5 days, I would make sure it was presentable and comfortable for them.  They also told me that they would have food/drinks for me - there is almost NOTHING edible.  No drinks at (except for water), and almost no food.  I was going to make eggs just now and discovered that they expired on Feb 23.  No thanks.

My house is in the same neighborhood, so I can go home and eat - not a big deal at all.  But I'm annoyed because they told me that they would have food and stuff for me so I wouldn't have to go back and forth all the time, and there's nothing.  And the clutter/mess is seriously making me anxious.  One of the dogs is a puppy that can't be left alone for more than a few hours, so I think I'm going to go home for breakfast and to chill for a little while before coming back.

LP, that's annoying.  I'm sort of anal about cleanliness so I hate it when people go into my house if it isn't clean and I hate it even more if people have me over and their house is a disaster (I'm talking bomb went off, not a few things out of place... I'm not that biitchy).

Back when I used to babysit I remember tidying up the houses.  It totally wasn't expected of me but I just couldn't sit and stare at it all, it drove me nuts.  It was mainly toys and stuffed animals.

Nebb/September, that's crazy!  My drive east of Hammertown was totally fine.  Though the snow on the ground when I woke up surprised me!
